In pictoral retelling of Hindu, Rama and Sita stories Rama is often depicted as being blue. Any ideas why?

You have to know a little bit of hindu iconography to understand this.

Hindu depict idols, fotos of gods to show their attributes.. not to show their true face.

Rama, Krishna and Shiva are in violet-blue color.... the color of the Agya Chakra... a chakra which controls

Hence to show that these are the manifestation, they depicted it violet-blue to tell that these were actually the controlling powers

I asked three very wise men the very same question a few years ago. All three gave the same answer.

I was told that Rama was extremely dark , not black but very dark. He is therefore portrayed as blue. I seemed satisfied with the answer because I have met people who are very dark and who can sometimes appear with a blue tinge.

Watch the sky and watch the Ocean. Things which are unfathomable are always seen in deep blue colours. That may be the main reason "Rama' is pictured with deep blue complexion. nagarajan.

Blue is the colour of Heaven, divinity, of the eternal. That is why Rama is painted as blue.

Actually, Rama and Krishna were both blacks; or, shall we say extremely dark guys?! The name Krishna actually translates as the "dark one".

Blue is a poetic rendition.

Blue is different to the norm, it may be that because they were dark skinned, and so wanted to highlight the fact they were different from all the other dark skinned people??
