We cannot all claim to be open minded people. It is quite evident that some are, and some are not.

So, what exactly do we hope (as a collective body of question answerers) to accomplish on answering questions in this particular section of Yahoo Answers?

As far as I can see, the majority of what has been "accomplished" on this forum is a breeding of hatred, contempt, intolerance and, dare I say and most unfortunately in some cases, idiocy.

Now, I am not going to answer my own question, so what are your impressions?

To quote Aristotle:

"It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it."

I was just reading through Rev. 21 and I had this crazy thought.

When the Kingdom of God comes down to earth it's going to be so out of this world! We will live there and watch and help as the 1000 yrs pass! What’s it going to look like to those who are blind and cannot see what is True? They will think it’s an alien invasion! That’s no joke; I believe it might happen that way! What to you think?

Lets try something different. Have you ever read anything I have answered. If so, my question is simple, who am I. Female, Male. What is my personality, can you tell a bit about me. Try to see if you can analsye me. Critism is accetable in negative and positive if constructive but don't be rude it only shows your intelligence level. Thought it would be fun to see if you can tell a bit about me. The person who gets the closest to my real personality will get the points. Have fun, that is all this question is meant to be.

Insist on discussing it like they know what they're talking about? Rather than continuing to ask dumb questions why don't they take the time to study the book first? I guess some folks have no pride.

I just needed a catchy titte...
But I was wondering....I have a good idea what all the Christians would talk about at a party (at some point or another)
Would you guys end up talking about what a pain in the butt religion causes you guys? Thats what I'm left thinking from reading all the posts....so I'm just wondering....does it really occupy that much of your mental time when you arent on here, or is it just a place you like to hang out when you are on here?
For the record, I'm agnostic - or confused at least....
So it really is just a curiosity question.

I've been a Christian for a little over a year. Previously, I was an atheist. I experienced things that proved to me personally that there had to be SOMETHING higher out there.

I also realize that becoming a Christian does not mean you will not suffer, and that The Bible tells us that we will suffer because Jesus suffered. I understand that suffering in this life is inevitable, but when does the happiness begin? This has been the worst year of my entire life.

I've devoted myself to my relationship with God and prayed for closeness and understanding. I don't feel any comfort. I've been told that God can deliver us from anything, but when does this happen? I don't want to hear that I should "pray about it" or just accept that its part of God's plan. I want some real answers to my real questions!

I realise it depends on the karma of the individual and his/ her dedication.

Yogi Bhajan says "The Yoga Sutras (writings) say that what you can achieve in 12 years of Hatha Yoga, plus 6 years of Raj Yoga, plus 3 years of Mantra Yoga, plus 1 year of Laya Yoga can be accomplished in a single year of perfectly practiced Kundalini Yoga."

Does that actually mean under a proper guru, enlightenment (moksha/ liberation) can be achieved in a year of proper practice?

There are certain subjects that I feel more at ease talking to women about - so when I meditate, I prefer to "mentally see" that I'm speaking to a woman....is this considered some sort of sin thats gonna end me up in hell - or do you think that god understands the nature of the situation, and will not get upset over the matter....
yes, I'm serious about this....I'm just curious about what others opinion on the matter are....

Evil is often used to describe sin and vice versa. But are they the same? Discuss.
And is it possible that God is/was the creator of one, the other or both? Discuss.

Educated answers only ... wait I should specify:

if you sin while in heaven, you will still be cast to hell, so heavenly life is not permanent, right?
