Figuring because part of the moral of the story was to sacrifice oneself for other people, like if someone was able to sacrifice oneself accordingly like whoever then their sins are forgiven? hm..

Any Christian, a true believer, would give their life in the name of Christ. He gave His life for our sins, we should at least give our lives for His love. Believing in Christ isn't easy and He told His disciples the same. And that people will hate them because they hate Him. That people may kill them because they believed in Him. That's why many disciples during His 3 years of ministry left Him. And why Judas betrayed Him and Peter denied Him. And why only 1 was at His death. And why Thomas doubted it until he saw it with his own eyes.
Christians that have been killed for believing in Christ are martyrs.
