I am a cashier at a computer store. A customer said this to me before she left.

Was she out of line? Even though I do celebrate Christmas, should she have said something else? What would you do if someone said that to you?

Is it normal for them to look at internet pornography/pornography itself, to have difficulty in sleeping and to apply bad attitudes to parents, siblings and other people?

While thee have been questions on using the knife/fork/sppon correctly, in Britain it is considered good manners (in all social classes) to put the knife and fork together at "twelve of clock" on the plate when finished (in a restaurant it also indicates to others that the plate can be taken) While working in the US I noticed this didn't occur and the implements were left sloppily on the plates. Is this the correct way or was I just with a bunch of slobs?

I know one guy who was fired when his boss overheard him say it to a customer he knew. I'm a Deist, but I don't have a problem with anyone wishing someone a Merry Christmas.

I am new on my job and some of the associates got me very nice holiday gifts. Except for my own boss, most of them are people I barely know. I want to send thank you notes that are sincere, but it is hard to write a personal note when I don't even know what a couple of them look like. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have this friend from church. Earlier today, at lunch, he got the cookie I had on my plate--I mean I knew it was all in good fun! I tried a little sarcasm, 'cause I don't get to tease that much, they say. Said I was always serious. So, I told him, "Why don't you go get me a drink, since you took my cookie?" I said that in a joking way! He took it seriously, came back and dumped a lot of cookies on my plate and nearly splashed the drink he had in his hand! He was like "You don't want to share a cookie, fine! Here you go! I'll supply you with a load of cookies, if that's what you want, and here's you drink!" I went after him and said that I was just joking! He won't talk to me! He told me not to make him raise his voice!
That was my idea of a joke! I never thought he'd take me seriously at that! Man, I feel so stupid! What do I do?

We weren't planning on purchasing a gift for our neighbors. For one, it wasn't in our budget and two, we don't really care for them that much. We are nice to them and we talk to them, but they haven't been the nicest neighbors and we just talk in passing. They brought over a small gift yesterday for our family and now I'm wondering if have to go out and find something for them since they gave us a gift?

I think it's really unfair that rude yahoo users are allowed to post mean things and there's no way of contacting them. Example: I wrote a question the other day re: the suitability of a hamster for a 7 year old. This user named "D" wrote the meanest things...I was so hurt and annoyed at this lengthy response that I wanted to send this person a message...the only thing was that they do not allow e-mail (I checked their profile). Anyways, I decided to look at some other answers they gave other people (as I was wondering if this person was just having a bad day) and it was more of the same to other pet owners calling them lazy etc..etc..One user even said it was their first time using yahoo and due to this person it would be her last! So, I wrote her a message telling her what I'm posting here...
It's not right...these kind of people want to dish it out but can't take any feedback in return. These kind of people should NOT have the privilage of using yahoo! What do you think?

Last week I was invited to a Holiday Party at a neighbors house. It was cosponsored by the people next door who hate me and my wife. They refuse to speak to me after a problem with snow shoveling a few years ago. The bad neighbor went up and down the street and told everyone who would listen how terrible I was. She is a strong person because I noticed a real chill in my relationships with people on the street since then. So I have withdrawn from the social apect of the neighborhood, mind my own business and enjoy my own friends.

Well a new older couple moved into the street and did not get the memo about how terrible I am. She organized a street wide Holiday Party and started calling us every two days until we finally returned her call and said we would attend. Then I found that the bad people on the street were cosponsors, so I just did not attend. Now the friendly neighbor has called me twice to complain about standing her up at the party.

I should have told her I could not go.

I won a gift certificate for a free manicure at a very upscale spa/salon in my town. I went in the other day to have my manicure when a woman walks out of the salon to ask my nail tech a question. She then turns to me and introduces herself as the head stylist. She then proceeds to touch my hair and says "You know, I can fix that." There was nothing wrong with it. I told her I was very happy with my current stylist and that she would not be seeing me anytime soon with that sales approach. She walked off all huffy. Some time later my nail tech proceeds to talk about how she also provides skin care. She looks at my face and says "You look like you could use some help with that skin." I ignored the comment. and didn't leave a tip. Last I checked customer service meant making the customer WANT to come back, not insulting them! I did nothing to merit such treatment. What would you have done?

I'm going to my boyfriend's family's house on Christmas Day and his SIL just had a baby. They'll more than likely try to get me to hold her. I don't really like babies, they make me uncomfortable. How can I poltely decline without looking like I'm making excuses or being rude? I really don't want to offend anyone, especially on Christmas. (No rude comments please, kids aren't for everyone)

I am just curious as to what kinda jobs are working the holiday and what companies are doing this to their employees. I don't practice Christianity but I don't practice Islam either and I would not work my employees on their respectively religious holidays.

Or DEMAND authority over others that they don't have? Like being bossy & DEMAND being in control when it's not their place?

this lady called me to babysit new years eve for her and 3 other families (7 kids), she called me on thanksgiving and left a message. Well i called her back and left a message and said "I can babysit but just call me back and let me know more about it" and she never called me back until just yesterday (dec 21) with the information so i figured she found someone else, so I made other plans to go to my friends new years party. I was thinking about calling her to say that since she didnt call back since just now i figured she found someone else and I made other plans...is that ok or should I not? because i really want to go to my friends party because all my friends will be there and more, but I dont know if that is a good excuse because she called me back a month later. what would you do?

For awhile now I have always prayed to myself instead of out loud. The thing is my boyfriend can't accept that. I feel like he think I don't pray, because I don't pray out loud. Why is it that he can't accept me for this? He tell me that I need to stop doing this. I just don't understand why he has accepted everything about me but this?
