You don't HAVE to answer the door, LOL. I agree with the other person, it's okay for family members, but for people you don't know, or just other weirdos altogether, NOT OKAY! It is a little rude though, if you are busy with something, or you aren't properly dressed.(Like if it's a neighbor who has a gift for you, they wouldn't like seeing you in your pajamas, or worse, BATHROOM ROBE.)

It all depends on the person. I have relatives that don't mind if I drop in anytime and some that have made it plain that they don't like unannounced visits. I think you should tell people that don't call first that you really like to be expecting them and not be surprised by them.
