i think you should do whatever you really want to.
i dont think it would be rude at all.
it was rude of her to call you at the last minute assuming that you are still available.
just call and say that you thought she had found someone else since she had not called you regarding it for a month.
tell her you are sorry and you could maybe babysit someother time.

You should have told her yesterday that you had made plans when she didn't call you back. If you agreed yesterday to babysit I don't think you should back out now. Hopefully the job will pay enough money to make you glad you babysat. One thing for sure, babysitting is a lot safer than partying on New Years.

I would call her and say that since she did not get back to you in a timely manner you already made plans and cannot work for her. Tell her that if you had received a more timely response than you would have been able to help her out. Remember you are doing her a favor, not the other way around.

Call her back and tell her that since she waited a month to call you thought she got someone else to babysit, say your sorry and go have fun with her friends. It's her fault for waiting so long not yours, you have a life 2.

You did what you had to do by calling her back. Since she didn't return your call I would have assumed she found someone else, aslo. Just explain to her that you're sorry, but when you didn't hear back from her you made other plans. But call her soon so she can find someone else.
It's not your fault she called you back a month later!

That's not bad excuse, she really should have called you earlier. Also, I think you should have called her when you were invited to the party and made sure the deal is on (or off). Honestly, I think you didn't call her again because you needed good excuse. Ha,ha. anyway have a good time on the party!!!

OMG totally call her back and say sorry lady. That is completely rude on her part to wait that long, who does she think you are waiting around like you have no life? Definitly have a crunk new years spend it with the people you love and care about, not some bratty kids.

tough call. She'll be in a major pinch if you back out now, but she slacked seriously in not being in touch for a month.
I think you'd be justified in going to your friend's party because as the adult, she shouldn't have left you hanging. If you do back out, giving her a few names of neighborhood kids who might be available is a nice option.
If she pays well and you want her to call you in the future, though, you should just do the babysitting gig. Your friends will be around in 08 as well.

You have every right to tell her when you never heard back from her you made other plans. She should've called you back right after you left your first message. This was her mistake, and I would call right now and let her know you can't do it anymore!

She should have done as you asked and called back with more information. Since she didn't go enjoy your party without feeling guilty.
