I think it's childish and meaningless. If they want to get anything done- and done RIGHT, those people need to shut their mouths and put on their listening ears. Remember the difference between a bully and leader is being able to l-i-s-t-e-n.

Usually these people are eldest in their family heirarchy.
Sometimes they are the youngest who spent a lifetime fighting immediately for a piece of the proverbial "pie" by going on attack mode.
(The best defense is an offense, the so called pre-emptive strike )
If you yourself comes from a large family and are familiar with heirarchial patterns/levels of dominance and pecking order, you know enough to either ignore them or stand your ground and hiss and snarl at the wannabe . "Dont mess with me or you'll be sorry".
Second ,you appeal to the higher ups (mom and dad?) to afffirm your position.
In this case, go to the boss.

They are usually people who are insecure and ineffective in life. They use power and authority to abuse others because it makes them feel important.

i think that they don't have any rights to belittle people because everyone is equal. and if they are like your boss they need to work in a way that is gracious to the people below them because they ARE ranked higher and do have a right to use their authority but using for bad purposes is wrong and if they do that they should even be that high!

my first inclination is to put them in check.....no one is superior to anyone else, and those that think they are don't deserve respect
