I think it's really unfair that rude yahoo users are allowed to post mean things and there's no way of contacting them. Example: I wrote a question the other day re: the suitability of a hamster for a 7 year old. This user named "D" wrote the meanest things...I was so hurt and annoyed at this lengthy response that I wanted to send this person a message...the only thing was that they do not allow e-mail (I checked their profile). Anyways, I decided to look at some other answers they gave other people (as I was wondering if this person was just having a bad day) and it was more of the same to other pet owners calling them lazy etc..etc..One user even said it was their first time using yahoo and due to this person it would be her last! So, I wrote her a message telling her what I'm posting here...
It's not right...these kind of people want to dish it out but can't take any feedback in return. These kind of people should NOT have the privilage of using yahoo! What do you think?

For those of you that can't READ all I'm trying to say is that if you have the right to post something...then there should be a way for the person asking the question to respond to them. Ignorant people....like the few that responded to this question do not allow e-mail or IM....they're cowards...I'm sure they're the ones that are insecure and sensitive...not me...I just don't think it's fair for these individuals to be so rude and not hear what the other person has to say....the person I was refering to was definately not a teenager...based on some of their answers they were clearly an adult that just hates the world.
FYI- I wanted to say THANK YOU to those that actually take the time and effort to read through the entire question and put thoughtfulness and consideration into their answers.

There are many angry people in the world. They want to spread their nasty "disease".
You also have to keep in mind that there are people with mental disorders. This person D might be psychotic.
It is a shame, I guess all you can do is ignore them.

There are far more nice people then these sad cowardly individuals that crop up from time to time.

The nice thing is that you can totaly ignore them, just give them the thumbs down and move on. They have such small brains and lack of intelligence, if they do not get any response, they normally move on and find somewhere else to play. They are normally children anyway.

Keep smiling....Happy Christmas x.

I think you have to realize, that many of the answerers here, are 12-15 year old children, who think they are being amusing. They don't seem to understand, the things they say, impact other people, and can be quite hurtful. Others, who post nastiness, are simply social misfits, who have to inflict their misery upon others.

They cannot screen, who uses an open forum, if their names are banned by Yahoo, they simply make another name, and continue. The best things you can do are, block the user, this will keep them from viewing your threads.. and report them for abuse.

pity them, they have sad and lonely lives.

I do not allow anyone to contact me on here because quite frankly, I don't care to be abused for my opinions. The internet exposes us to all walks of life and you need to just simply ignore the haters and those who insist on pushing your buttons. Its like having cyber freaks try to IM you or getting multiple bouts of SPAM from companies trying to sell sex toys. You're not interested in that stuff so you delete it, right?
IF we had to power to dictate who was suitable, we would first have to establish rules about what can be said and if you're in America, you know darn well that this is a violation of their First Amendment Rights.
Our world is filled with a wide variety of people and every one of them have their own opinion,... they can't all agree with me or with you.
Ignore the hateful remarks and worry about something you can control... yourself.

I'm inclined to agree with you but I stop short of actually censoring people...this is a public site and we must suffer the rude ones as well as the rest. Picking and choosing who we want to use the site presents some frightening possibilities, none of them good.

I just asked a question in this section about supermarket queueing etiquette.

1 lovely user told me it was my fault a random stranger started screaming abuse at me in the queue.

Another said I shouldn't be in the supermarket at all if I am pregnant I should tell my partner to 'grow some gonads' and do the shopping and quit moaning about the queue - I guess he didn't read the question properly!!

When someone is repeatedly posting ugly or mean responses, that is the time to report them for abuse. People who get reported enough by other users will eventually have their Yahoo accounts revoked. However, do be aware that they may still be able to open accounts under other user names.

Oh yes let's put it in your hands to decide who is rude and who may or may not use this forum. Believe it or not some people deserve a curt, if somewhat blunt answer from time to tome. If your 7 year old enjoys playing God half as much as you do then I fear for the that poor little hamster.

some people will always feel the need to be rude and cruel to others. All you can do is ignore them and if it continues report them but they will simply make new accounts so just ignore them and don't stress over it. be thankfull that there's more nice people then rude.

That's why you can report people. Unfortunately, and this is true in real society as well as virtual, in order to make things fair for everyone, you have to accept that people will abuse the privilege.
