I just got my first office job ever and I don't know strict/loose the office environment is. For example can you go out for a quick sandwich whenever you want etc.? Or if you're feeling tired/bored can you go out for a quick walk. How does it work?Would employers sack you if you're taking too many breaks?

I guess we all have something in are past that we wish we would not have done. I remember taking money when I was a waiter. I was mad because I was not getting a percentage of tips from the other waitresses. I was caught and fired! Man, I felt so low! Never stole again after that!! How about you?

I've been told that it's proper etiquitte in this instance to choose a place that is nice with a price range above low prices but below high prices. That being said, should I choose a place like the Olive Garden or a nice local place?

My father recently passed away after a short illness. In lieu of flowers we requested donations be made to a burn unit of a hospital (my father was a retired fire fighter). The contact person I have at the burn unit told me when they receive a donation in memory of my dad, they send out a thank you card and will email me a list of people who made a donation. My question is, do I still send out a thank you card also? Thank you.

She is mildly retarded but well enough as she lives on her own in her own apt. She is a good person and I take her sometimes to the grocery store and walmart as she doesn't like to drive in busier areas, we are rural. Her car is very unreliable and probably won't pass the next inspection so taking her in her car is out.

I have to word this in a way that she doesn't get hurt.

She simply is stinking up my car and it's either I don't bother with her or I tell her and she will clean up -hopefully.

My wife and I have been invited to a Black-tie optional formal dinner party. I’ve been asked to give a 2 min speech, and my Doctor will be awarded a Global Leadership Award. We’ve never been to a formal event before, and we don’t know proper etiquette. Worst, there’s gonna be lots of doctors, some media people, and high ranking others there. I know nothing about medicine! What type of conversation can I have with a doctor? What type of conversations should we try to indulge in, and how long should they last? What should I wear, (we don’t have much), and how should we act? They paid for a car rental, hotel stay, and food. Please help me out. We don’t want to stand out too much! Thanks

I'm no great looker but I can look very nieve and like I'm about 19 (I'm 24). I'm just wondering why a man would continue to come onto you - WHILE YOUR HUSBAND IS THERE!!!!!!
I made it quite obvious I was married and yet he was all "Are you wearing contacts?" NO?!!!!! But you have such pearcing blue eyes" Even if I was was single EWWWWWW.
Anyway later he waited till my husband was talking to someone else - because we didn't actually leave each others side all night, thought that would have been obvious enough - to ask if I was out and about the next day . I turned to my husband and asked him and suddenly this guy wasn't interested anymore.
Even after that he insisted on kissing my hand about three times which by the end was turning into a slobbery snog.
Anyway this is the least intrusive a man has been recently - usually they feel like they can be all up in my face or grab a squeeze of something (At which point they get a bit shocked because I don't slap I man-punch)
WHY????????

"When you know that when you are on the stage, you will not smile to your audience or give them a cheerful stare, you get stage fright and is the same reason for people to avoid eye contact during conversations." how far is this fact true?

My boyfriend has a little 6 cup coffee maker. It is really annoying. So I got this brand new coffee maker for free, kind of with him in mind. Now I'm wondering if it is lame, or wierd to give it to him.

Say you were cleaning your house and you found an envelope full of checks people wrote to you 25 years ago. The checks are for between $5 and $60. I'm 99% sure that legally, the people who wrote you the checks are not obligated to write you fresh checks or cash the old ones for you. But are they ethically obligated? Would you have the nerve to call or write to these people individually and ask them if they would replace the check? Or would you just shred them and move on?

One of my colleague is really mean to me.. she is very political and changes her behavior according to her need. She is put me on her bad side (I dont even know what issues she has with me). My other colleague wants me to let go and invite her to my place. I dont want to entertain mean people who play with peoples lives for their alterior motives and thats why dont want to inviter her. More I try to explain my situation in this scenario, worse I feel about myself. It has happened before that I dont get necessary support from this colleage friend; though I always stand by her. Our relationship (we are good friends) is strained because of this. What should I do?

Because my husband was brought up that it was "okay" to drink his hot chocolate from a spoon, he now thinks it's okay for our girls to do the same. I disagree. A cup or glass is to drink from, and a spoon is used for stirring, or eating soup or other such foods. Not a beverage.

If a man has to lift the toilet seat, why shouldn't women have to lower it? Why should the man have to lift AND lower the seat? Isn't equality what we all want?

even though you're friendly to them? Okay, I'm a nice guy and I tend to talk to people who seem like they lack in self-esteem. I ask around to know what that person's name is and then when I see him, I greet him by name.

The moron doesn't even seem appreciative of that, instead has a bitter expression on his face.

What's up with some people?

Okay I have a part time job after school at a supermarket (Giant) and yesterday the manger was yelling at me because I came to work late, after I walked away from her she grabbed my arm and said "don't walk away from me ever again." So I told the store manger and she didn't believe me either and when all the other workers saw her do this. Why isn't store manger believing me when all the other workers saw her do it? Is it because I'm still a minor?

Recently, my step-son called to thank me for gifts I sent to his daughter. But shouldn't she have thanked me herself? Where's the joy in giving to someone who isn't considerate enought to acknowledge it? But the way she is 13 and she knows how to use the phone, she called me asking for these things, so couldn't she have called to say thank-you?

She asks loud questions and will insult patients. The doctor is bullied by her (plastic surgeon)and it's a fiasco. She claims she is being assertive and it's her right since she's fifty years old. Should I send her an anonymous letter telling her to tone it down? Her loud crude manner makes me cringe and various patients have told me she is too "street" and they will not return?
