I would not bother to write a letter, she won't change and if she finds it from you things will probably get worse. Sooner or later the doctors in the practice will realize she's hurting their business and they will have to let her go. People can put up with a lot of things, but not if it affects their wallets.

Doctors like overbearing people in their office because it provides for a good baracade from the patients....honest. Haven't you noticed how crappy some doctor's office staff are??? Why on earth would they want them there I wondered....well this is why....because they keep the patients in line, and I think some doctors don't really care how the office person treats the patients, they just figure that the patient will get over it once he/she enters the room. Not a good excuse, just thinking of my own assessment about these situations...
As far as your letter goes I agree with the first poster, that won't resolve anything...this woman already feels like she has a "right" to be rude/obnoxious, so she will just try to find out who wrote the letter and give you all hell about it. If you really dislike it that much I would suggest finding another job.

I have often switched doctors because of the rudeness of the front office staff.
The front office staff is the first impression of the doctor's office and the front office should behave very professionally and discreetly. If the doctor cares about his or her practice he or she should do something about this woman. I would be one of those people that would not return. It is usually stressful enough having to go to a medical appointment with out having to endure some crazy *itch at the front desk. I agree with you that the medical office should be quiet. If you feel comfortable enough you should mention to the doctor that many patients have complained to you about her behavior and have said they will not return. I can't imagine that the doctor would not listen to you if the woman's behavior is affecting the practice. If you don't feel comfortable going to the doctor you could mention to the patients that complain that they should relay their complaints to the doctor. Good luck - I feel bad for you having to endure this woman on a daily basis - I've been in similar situations !!

Make a record of these instances, and if possible, write down the patients' names and comments about her and take them to an administrator or someone as high as possible. If you state your case with witnesses and actual events, there is a greater chance that action will be taken; it's less likely to look like an inter-office catfight. Good luck :)

The next time a patient says that they will not return because of her, or when they make a comment about her, suggest that they write a letter of complaint to the dr. He sounds like a wimp.

The doctor needs to remember that he is the boss. If he is losing patients because of her, something has to change: either she has to tone it down or she has to go.

It's not your place; it's the boss' place to do something about this. You said that the doctor is bullied by her meaning that the doctor apparently hasn't done anything about it. I think maybe you should start looking for another place to work that will be more comfortable for you.

It isn't your responsibility to correct this woman's behaviour.
If you have already mentioned it to her, & she refuses to
listen. Then politely tell the doctor the effect it has on patients.
Perhaps the doctor can get a counsellor to talk to her.

No letter would be effective. Merely walk up to her the next time the volume is up and cup your ear towards her and say, "I'm sorry, what did you say?"
