I get my period but I use tampons and I am very clean about it.

The way its been explained to me...
Way, waaay back in the day before bathing daily was the norm, folks protected their expensive outerwear by wearing something less expensive underneath it, thereby soiling the underwear instead of their outerwear.
Nowdays with the advent of washing machines and indoor plumbing (yeah yeah...they had indoor water supply and restrooms in ancient Rome, but it fell out of favor for almost a thousand years after Rome fell), folks wear undergarments for the sake of comfort.
I'm with you though...don't need it.

I think its all personal preference. I have to wear it, I don't like the feeling of some fabrics on me. But if it works for you, do what your comfortable with. I knew a guy that never wore boxers, he didn't have any hygiene problems. Hell I have read that some type of thongs can actually cause more infections in the Vagina....;

well, for one, you dont want anyone to see anything you have under there. It is improper, so to speak. Also, if a girl has there period, you have to keep a pad on. If it is a boy, they need to keep their "package" in there, in case something slips.
You know, it is also OK not to wear it if you have none of these issues going on at the moment, I just think in our society today, people will want you to wear underwear.

EDIT: I just rembered, I just answered another queston about Paris, and rembered that in history, Benjamin Franklin, a Founding Father of the USA, went to Paris and he loved it because the French ladys had not underwear!!!So he thought it was AOK!!!!

The fabric from ur pants can rub on very sensitive skin causing pain and even infection. U should wear cotton panties.

No there is not an actual reason and you really don't have to if you don't want too lol I'm guessing the only purpose is to cover your area if you don't want it to be seen or it helps protect your vagina from rough fabrics like jeans.

well one reason to wear them is to avoid the moisture from ur boby spoiling the dress that u r wearing... and also there could be times when the underwear will help u conceil the stink eliminating from ur body.

i was always told it helps against infection.
and i kinda have proof of it cuz when i was little i went for a few days without underwear and bam, i got an infection :(

i never wear underwae, its uncomfortable and gives me wedgies and sometimes shows if my pants arent up well enough..unless its a thong iguess it doesnt matter, but they just feel funny.
whatever you do, make sure your jeans are always clean (wash them after each time you wear them) otherwise its just like wearing the same underwear w/out washing em... ew right
