I've been told that it's proper etiquitte in this instance to choose a place that is nice with a price range above low prices but below high prices. That being said, should I choose a place like the Olive Garden or a nice local place?

It depends on the kind of money you/your bosses were making. If you were bringing in an average salary, Olive Garden is fine. If you worked with a lot of upper class people with high salaries, it is probably more appropriate to choose somewhere nicer.

The proper etiquette is for your employer to choose the place. Since they're ignoring that rule by making you choose, I say anything goes.

olive garden sounds good!~
just make sure the space is big enought!!!
something local may be key too maybe you can get a discount rate and keep a business going!

Give your business to a local place, it's more meaningful then if you went to a restaurant chain.

regardless of the place you pick, make sure you are sitting with your back towards the wall, you know, just in case they aren't too happy about your choice.
