My mother works for Mitsubishi, at one of their factories, and her hands are so twisted and clamped shut that sometimes she has to have her husband pry her fingers open just so that she can turn the key in her car to drive. Drive to work. I don't mean to be rude, but what can I or anybody else say that will make it better for her? Right now, make it so that opening and closing her fist doesn't hurt? How will you or anybody help her right now? She's in pain right now. Who will help her? No one,.

I dunno if there are drive through places like the one near my house, but I was wondering if anyone knows proper etiquette for a drive through. They carry beer, snacks, soda, candy, etc.and we just pull in and tell them what we need. They bring it to the window, take your cash and bring change. My question is, do I need to tip? The guys do alot of walking as it is a fairly long drive-through and it looks like a job that is very cold in the winter and very hot in the summer. There are no tip jars or signs saying tips are accepted, nor have I seen others tip, but tonight one of the guys didn't bring our change (it was only about $1.75) and looked confused when we just sat there. He was a new guy and none of the other workers ever kept our change. I felt stupid when he was like "Oh...you want your change?". So was he expecting a tip? What do you do at drive throughs? It's not like McDonalds so what is expected?

let's say you have to puke, RIGHT NOW! what do you do?

-rush to the bathroom and hope you make it... if not you'll spew all over the place
-fumble around the room for a garbage can
-find a cup or bucket to barf into... hopefully it's big enough. if not, then what?
-find the nearest sink
-none of the above. stay right where you are and see what happens

I went to a birthday party for a one-year-old. The invitation said 'No gifts, please.' So, I went without a gift and I was the only one without one.

Do you think I should buy something and take it to her, or just let it go?

They know we don't attend a "house of worship" and their question was asked in a condescending manner - as if our Sundays (and lives) are somehow meaningless because we choose not to engage in the same activities as them...

A man likes this woman and she likes him but she is also afraid and confused because he:

Acts afraid/nervous to be around her and almost drives his van into a wall with them both in it after he stares into her eyes. Shakes and goes very red around her. Stands and gazes for a long time at her as if mesmerized and frozen. looks at her through a window, smiles and winks at her, talks sexually from time to time as if wanting sex with her.

He then somtimes acts pissed off with her even though she hasn't done anything. He asks her if has done a good job with something as if wanting approval, He wants her to be alone and to have sex with other guys who are his friends but she isn't that way and would never do that. He wants her to be a traffic warden?

What sort of man is this and please don't say mad, schitzo or things like that as want proper insight into this man's mind. He is my landlord and 45. I am the girl.

In my apartment complex, about one in every 15 or 20 vehicles has been backed into its parking space. Sometimes people hold up traffic in parking lots just so they can "back in." Is this because they think they are going to leave in a hurry and every .5 seconds counts? Is it because they are afraid they are going to hit someone if they back out? That wouldn't make sense though, because there isn't much traffic in my apartment complex parking lot. The fact is, it takes more time to back in than it does to back out. So the overall parking/leaving time of someone who backs into their space increases significantly.

Do people just like to see the front of their car in all its glory?

I am in fourth grade and when somebody gives me a compliment or tries to start a conversation with me I don't say anything because I am shy. It's not that I don't want/like to talk and it's not that I don't know what to say (usually), but I don't know what the problem is or how to get over it. When my parents ask me why I do this I don't know what to say and it bothers them and me. I even do this to parents of friends I have known since preschool. HELP!

A friend recently got aesthetician's license. To build clientele and generate income she offerred friends discounts on services--I've gotten services that I wouldn't have spent the money on before.

i.e. A peel that retailed at $349, she charged only $40 for the cost of the products. I tipped her $85.

The lash extensions retail at $250 for the 1st app; she charged $80 and I tipped $80. For lash fill-ins: I pay $50 and tip $50 each time (2 1/2 hrs. of work 4 her).

The dilemma: She sold me a liquid silicone product to paint on the lashes to extend their life. It made them fall off. She advised me to use less, I did, same thing. So that was $100 down the drain twice. I wanted to at least return the product. She reluctantly said she would, but that it hadn't been a problem with others, and the $60 would come out of her pocket. So I didn't return it. A while later she told me that the stuff was a problem for everyone and not to use it.

My question is: Should I return the product?

I've decided to do something besides avoid people at all costs and hiding in corners when I have to come out. That said, I'd like to know how to not be an overly rude jackass, so I have some questions. 14 (nearly 15) years old, female. Live in the US if that makes much of a difference.

1. What do I call my peers' parents? I have a vague sense that first names are too informal, but if I call someone "Mr. Smith," that doesn't sound right either. Generally I try to avoid the names altogether.

2. When someone invites you over to dinner, what's the proper ettiquette? Assume it's a friend, in a want-to-stay kind of way. I have good table manners and offer to do dishes, but I'm so incredibly awkward with conversation I just end up sitting there like a rock. I don't have some internal social compass to follow. I've tried.

3. What are some general ettiquette rules? I seriously have no sense for this kind of thing. I only know one rule: If you don't say anything, you can't mess up.

I have 2 family members coming to visit me. I live 1500 miles from most of my family. They are coming at different times. Of course they want to see the sites, etc. I am currently saving all my extra money for a family trip that has been years in the making for my husband, kids and myself. Is it expected that I pay for everything or take them all over the place, thus spending my own money when they come? I am not a cheap person, just really trying to make this trip happen for my husband and kids.

I see it all of the time in answers here - and I think it's annoying. I would call a 4 year old sweetie, but not someone on Yahoo! answers. Seriously, you don't know if I'm sweet or not.

Are they trying to get points? Isn't it condescending? Just piggish? Stupid? I don't know. What do YOU think?? (And if you call me sweetie here, you're an idiot.)

My friends have finally talked me into going to GR. However, the dance is tomorrow, and the only dress I have I wore to Homecoming three months ago. I don't really care, but my mother won't let me go and I need to convince her that it really doesn't matter.

I am having a birthday party for my son at an amusement center and I was wondering how long before the actual party should I send out the invitations? I would like to know as soon as I can so I know how much this is all going to cost because I have to pay per kid, but I don't want to send out too soon or everyone will forget. Is there proper etiquette in this situation?

I have a friend who committed suicide almost 3 years ago and she still doesn't have a headstone. There is just a piece of paper in plastic on a wire sticking out of the ground. My friends want to get one but do we have to contact the family to have one put there. We almost don't want to include them since it is almost a slap in the face to my friend who committed suicide. Almost like everything she felt inside was actually true. So do you think we should contact them or not?
