The whole thing is about courtesy. Women want you to put the seat down because they will fall in that damn thing if they aren't paying attention when they plop down. If you have never had yer butt go swimming in a toilet bowl, you may not understand how unpleasant it is. If you have a lady hounding you on the matter, I would say this. Do you care if you annoy her? No? Then dont worry about it. Yes? Then put it down. Its that easy. You wouldn't want to lose a cool lady over a toilet seat.

If a man puts the toilet seat UP - he should replace to where he found it in the first place - DOWN.
Why should a woman have to replace the seat to the down position when they didn't put it up, or pick up socks they never wore, return the man's beer can to the kitchen, or put his tools back in the garage when he's done with them, etc ?
The MAN used it - the Man should return it to where he found it.
It's called common courtesy.
My man puts the seat down when he's finished, picks up milk for me on his way home, and I bring him a cup of coffee in bed every morning and fix his favorite dinners. It's called give and take, and it really does work. We care about each other, and we've got a great relationship........ so little things DO mean a lot !

It's sometimes not only about the principle of the thing (you know the fact that you put it up in the first place) but its also about caring about the little things. If you remember to put the seat down, your significant other feels loved- you remembered her likes and cared enough to take that extra second. I agree it can be over the top when women go crazy about something so small-however every little thing you do adds up, and believe me it's the little things that get noticed-in the same token every time you do something that annoys her she sees that too. Take a tip and if you want to keep a girlfriend listen enough to find out what she likes-otherwise find a girl that can pee standing up.

It has nothing to with if the seat is up or down or who left it where. It's about who's in charge and in control. Because really is it that big of a deal?

They mistakenly belive that since we both have to sit to poop, but only men can stand to pee, that the default position for the toilet seat is "down". You hear all these complaints about "falling in" and stuff. I say everyone should just put the seat in wahtever configuration they desire, upon each use- because it take such little time and effort.

Because is a sign of courtesy, to the lady who is going to use the toilet after you. Is a big deal if you are a gentleman... which I don't think you are since you are asking this question....

Both men and women should put the seat AND the lid down.
No one wants to see inside the nasty bowl.

Lol well sweety the cold porcelain on the fanny is quite a shock in the middle of the night. So compromise. Put it down at night and leave it up during the day.

I always keep my toilet lid down. It is a cleanliness issue because, when you flush, little droplets of what you've just flushed deposit themselves all over everything in the room, which is why it is best to keep your toothbrush in the medicine cabinet. This is especially important if you have rude guests who flush with the lid up.
