I was talking with a good female friend of mine and noticed a wafer thin girl walking out of the restaurant. My friend mentioned that she wished she looked like that, and I said "No, you don't want to look like that, you are nice and cuddly". She became very offended at this and said that implied she was fat. I disagree. Thoughts?

P.S. She is definately not fat. Just not anorexic like models these days.

I was at a local retail business and there were 3 cashiers open at 7am. There were only 3 of us in line at one cashier and 2 customers each in the other 2 lines. A lady who was second in line was already complaining they should open another cashier! I mean, she was next. I'd been waiting longer than her, she's only been there something like a minute! Why do people think they should have their own personal cashier evertime they go to the store? When I go out to buy something, I already know that I might have to wait in line. If there was a lot more customers I could understand her complaint. What's with our society?

Comments like "Because, as Americans, we dominate the world.

and besides, WE can do what we want whenever we want" dont really endear Americans to the rest of the world!

ok, here it is..i took this job which is great..i do hardly nothing and get paid. well, yesterday one of the ladies from our main store calls and said that they are changing some things and the dress code is one of those things. When I took the job and month ago, they told me that dress was casual and i could wear jeans, t-shirts, tennis and be comfortable. I just can't wear shorts, tank tops...etc. So, I took the job 50% because of that and 50% because of pay. Now they are saying no more jeans, t-shirts or tennis...we have to wear dresses or dress slacks. I have no dress pants...only have high heeled shoes for church...no loafers or nothing like that. And i am not going to wear dresses to work when I can't stand to wear them for 1 hour to church on sunday. Now I have to go buy more clothes and I really don't think this is fair.. We are going to have a conference call this morning and I am mad and don't know what I should say...Do you think this is right and what would you do?

Recently, my boyfriend whom I have lived with for 4 months and have been dating for 10 months was sent a wedding invitation. On the outside of the wedding it was addressed as "his first name and last & Guest" I felt very insulted by this and I ahve decided not to go. He thinks I should go. The think is that his friend ( the guy who's wedding it is ) has known about me for months, knows we live together, and knows that this is a serious relationship. I've never met the friend because we live in another state. I've looked at many wedding web sites and they all say that the addressed envelope should have my name and his name on it in alphabetical order. I told him even before I looked it up that it was a breach of etquitte. Anyway now he's completely pissed at me because I am not going because I think it's a breach of etiquitte to go to a wedding that I wasn't invited formally to.

Some of you might wonder, ‘how can we find out?’ Well, if you have ever called to check on your application, or if you had managed to track down the office rumors, then, you’d know, more or less. As always, have your fun and keep the language clean, ya’all.

How can they say their smoking doesn't affect anyone else when I can smell the smoke from the car in front of me and see their butts everywhere?!

I haven been raised, as have many others, under the understanding that no means no. However, I've found that women will say no when they mean yes, and this has ruined every relationship with a woman in my life because I treated "no" as no. Should I abandon the "no" means no etiquette in favor of "no" means FORCE ME?

My Mother-in-law recently sent a "surprise" gift to my daughter, along with a letter that she signed "I love you the most- Grandma".
Do you find this acceptable, or does it insinuate that her love is superior to the "other" Grandmother's, or anybody else's for that matter? Or am I looking too deeply at things?

I've always tried to be mannerly and respectful towards other people, and that includes not invading their personal space.

I've found in my life that sometimes when I look at women, they think I'm "checking them out" even if I'm not (I'm a guy), and they might get insulted. Also, if I look at other guys, they might think I'm trying to start something up, or that I'm being aggressive.

How I've solved that is for years now, when I'm in a public place, I just check out the scenery. Sometimes I daydream and kind of stare off into space. Either way, I make a point of not looking at other people - I could walk by my brother or a hot woman and not know it, as all I see are colorful blobs.

The only reason I do this is because I'm trying to be respectful; I know I don't like it when people notice me since it seems like they're being nosy. I'm really frustrated because I can't decide if this is rude or not.

Does it bother you if/when people look at you? What is rude and what is polite?
