Today is my last day with the driving school I hired, not sure if I should tip the guy.

No, I think that for the amount you paid you would not tip. If you have been with him for a while and really liked him maybe a small token gift (like a mug) would be nice.

Keep your eyes moving while you're in the car. Do not look at any one thing for more than one second. Identify hazards, predict what they will do, decide on what you will do to avoid them, and execute your decision. Listen to the instructor and execute the instructor's directions immediately. If you keep your eyes moving, you will be aware of your surroundings all the time. Driving is kind of like walking down an unfamiliar alley in the dark. You've got to have all your senses on full alert all the time. This stuff can kill you. Drive like your life depends on it, because it does.

Tipping driving school instructors is way more fun than tipping cows. But you rarely find them standing asleep outside.

Depending on how helpful your instructor was, you would be better off giving him a gift certificate to a local restaurant or coffee house rather than a tip. It could be that the company doesn't allow him to take tips and the g/c would be more appropriate. Good luck on getting your license.

No, that's like tipping a teacher at school. All possible tips are included in the astronomical prices to begin with!

Most driving school instructors are assholes anyway. I wouldn't tip them a single red cent.

Not that I know of, but if you really appreciate the lessons and want to thank your instructor, nothing should stop you from giving a nice thank you card.

I searched www.tipping.org on driving AND instructor and got no matches. I can't find othe web sources that say yea/nay. I don't think you need to tip him/her.
