It's horribly inappropriate if she has other grandchildren that she doesn't send presents to and doesn't say that to (especially if you have other kids or the cousins would find out about it)--because then it means "I love you more than I love them". I wouldn't read it as "I love you more than Granny X does" AT ALL. I would read it as "I love you as much as it is possible to love anyone."
Kids do know whether one or both Grandmas love them or don't much care about them. How she signs a card won't change that.

Grandparents always speak in exagerated terms to their grandkids, and this is no exception. Treat is as it is, humoring a child and feeling loved. As she grows older, she'll get her grandma's point across, feel loved, but won't believe her grandma loves her more than everyone else--it's all part of growing up.

If the gift was for a young child it would seem "Grandma" is just trying to speak in terms that your daughter could appreciate.

Umm, sounds like Grandma is one of those controlling yet insecure, love-me-the-most types, guys won't get your question, but that kind of signature is worrisome :( I really wish some people would give more thought to the things they do!!! Good luck :)

Maybe she really feels that she loves her the "most." It's her opinion and not necessarily so. But it's nice for your daughter to know that she is loved in many ways and by many people. I wouldn't get upset about it. Actions speak louder then words anyway.

You seem to have a problem with your mother-in-law. IF this is the biggest problem you have, consider yourself lucky as hell. Stop looking for things to get upset about...she could ignore your child like many other's grandparents do...instead of being upset, why aren't you thankful that she loves your child?

You are looking way too deep into that message. She is not saying she is more superior to anyone else. Get over it and find something to really worry about.

I think what she means is that out of everyone she
knows she loves your child the most of all NOT that
she's the one who loves your child more then anyone
else your child knows.
I'd just leave it as is & be GLAD she loves your child SO
much.
