Wow, had a few bumps along the way of your rocky life huh? Actually, my husband and my mother must be freaks or something because they treat each other with the most respect and humane friendship I've ever witnessed between two adults. Not that it wasn't always that way; they had their own hard times for the first few years. But I just always feel good to know that these two are the exception to the "mother-in-law" jokes or the "son-in-law" put downs. Just don't ask me about MY mother-in-law and a car...don't EVEN get me started.....!

I see a tongue in cheek question, but I'll give you a serious answer.
My mother-in-law is a saint, and I'd do anything for her that's reasonable. I'd open the door for her, and I'd do what I could to keep her safe. She's 87 next month. I don't know how much longer we'll have her, but I hope she'll be around for a while.

The faster the car is going, the more eager I would be to open the door for my mother in law :)

Yes, and it is also polite to unfasten the seat belt as well...and as for the speed changing the answer, it does, the faster you are going the more polite it is to do just that....(Boy I hope my last three mothers-in-law are reading this) lol

Yes it is, but you must show consideration for other road users, ensure that there is no oncoming traffic.
