The hardest Question I ever asked was to my mum, it was, who is my Father? Because I have never met him in 33 years, and that is why it was hard, because she resents his 'lack of Interest!'- as she puts it. Her reaction was not of shock as she knew I would ask some day, but more relief than anything I think.
And the answer I got was his name and also to show him how well my mother raised me and some other things that I probably would rather not repeat!

Mine was asking my friend if he was gay or straight. I wanted him to know that no matter what answer he gave me, I wouldn't judge him and he would still be one of my best friends. Turns out he's not, so all I did was make a complete @$$ outta myself. Nothing could be worse than that moment...

When I asked my ex-husband, while he was divorcing me,
"Don't you love me anymore?"

The divorce was so sudden and out of the blue I didn't understand why he would do that. It was easy when we were in love to ask if he loved me, or if he wanted to marry me, but when it was over, it was the hardest thing in the world to hear that he didn't want me anymore. Just a stone cold answer and a goodbye.

I hate lending money because I believe if you can't afford it you shouldn't buy it. A friend of mine spends money on silly things and then has none left. She then asks me to lend her some until the end of the week, which I did, then promptly seemed to forget about it. I asked her for the money back, she seemed surprised and I had to literally to to the bank with her to get the cash. From that day I have never ever lent money to anyone.

The hardest question I think I've ever had to ask was to a girl, and the question was:

"You're not going to file a paternity suit, are you?"

She said she wasn't, but she lied and did file one, but luckily I won that time. Girls can be evil.

When i was working. One of my patients was dying. Her son came to see her. She didn't want him there. I knew him slightly because he lived in my neighboroud. She became distraught, told me "Nurse tell him to leave now please". I called him outside, explained to him that his mother was in a lot of pain, probably wanted to protect him as she had done all her life, saving him from watching her in such pain. He broke his heart and it was the hardest thing i ever had to do. Part of me wanted to let him in by her bedside but my duty was to keep him away as the patient's wishes came first. I am pleased to say that she began to relax after a while, i was then able to tell her about her son, sobbing uncontrollably in the duty room. She nodded her consent so i brought him in and he held her hand 'til the last minute. He thanked me afterwards but, when i did make it clear i couldn't let him stand there upsetting her (At first) .. He did call me a few rude names. It wasn't his fault. he was distraught too!

The hardest question I ever had to ask someone was the time I had to ask my dad if he was trying to kill himself. He was ill with cancer and was binge drinking, got arrested and I had to bail him out. I had to ask him if he cared about how me and my brother felt or if he just wanted to die, because that is what he was going to do if he continued to drink.

He eventually stopped drinking but it was too late. He died about a year and a half after that incident.

all people that asks "canned" interview questions should not be allowed to interview human beings. in case you ask canned questions, you get canned solutions. thankfully all my perplexing questions have been technical.
