I have a 2 y/o who will turn the dishwasher off mid cycle and then opens the door which prevents me from starting it where it left off. He sometimes turns it on when there is nothing in it and we notice it on when we hear the water running. We got a lock to keep him out because he would open the door and stand on it! But I am at a loss from how to keep him from pushing all the buttons. Any ideas would be appreciated!

We're looking to hire a nanny about 3-4 days a week for about 4 hours a day. They'd be off all summer and all holidays and it wouldn't really include any housekeeping. How much should I expect to pay? We're in the Houston area.

My daughter is almost one and she is not great at eating solid foods yet (mostly eats just mashed/pureed stuff). Now that I am weaning her off of nursing, I am more concerned about what she is eating in terms of solid foods and what she is drinking from her sippy cup. I want to make sure that I am feeding her an appropriately balanced menu. Any websites or suggestions are also welcomed

I have an 8 month little boy who is cruising around anything he can get his hands on. He also can sit down from the standing position, and can crouch and pick up a toy while holding onto the couch with one hand and remain standing. He start really crawling, well, about 3 weeks ago. It seems like he was pulling up even before he could crawl well. He also is very active and ALWAYS on the move; he pulls up and sits down and cruises all day long, constantly it seems. My question is, for you moms who have/had the same kind of child, can you give me a guess on how long he will cruise before taking his first steps? Before he will walk? He is very brave and has absolutely no fear...just FYI. Any experienced mom have a good guess? I was simply not prepared for the progression to go this quickly; I thought he would crawl for a while before attempting to walk. I don't have a babygate or anything!!! LOL :)

My 4 yr old has been chewing up the bus seat chewing books and licking his shoes? He has bad tantrums in school and can sometimes be mean to others. Why would he be chewing all of this items and licking his shoe? Is he to young for the school? I am really concerned with him he cries and will not listen to the teacher, can't sit still in his chair and just refuses to listen. My older son is adhd but he never went thru this chewing thing and i don't remember him being as bull headed. i keep hoping its a stage he will out grow but i dont know. Please can someone give me some answers or some advice. I have used the telling him about the germs that come along with him chewing on everything.

So what are some things I can give my 17 month old that’s easy to make and nutritious at them same time? Also any ideas on what I should offer her at breakfast that she can feed herself while Im get ready for work BUT at the same time healthy?? Please any ideas will be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Have you ever had to clean up someone else's child after they wet or messed their pants?

Maybe you were babysitting the child when they had an accident. Perhaps they were a playmate of your own child visiting your house. Or maybe you were helping at a birthday party. Or possibly you work with children.

Did you mind having to change someone else's child? Was it worse than cleaning up your own child? How did the child feel? How did their parents react when they heard you had had to clean up their son or daughter?

Just wondering, Im not comparing or anything. Out of pure curiosity I would like to know how your 2 year olds vocabulary is? Do you know of a website where it shows where your 2 y/o should be vocabulary wise? Just wondering. Thanks for your input I appreciate it.

He keeps himself awake to the last possible extent and even then after a little nap he is once again replenished for further playing. We never force him to go to sleep except for the night times. Is it OK?? Is such a habit OK for his health. By now he is fine.

He is not shy but does not want to get frank with other people even kids of his age. He holds me tightly when I'm in any social gathering. He cries when I sit in any other one's car. He is very careful rather frightened that I think any kid of his age shouldn't be while even jumping and running. It looks he is comfortable only with family members and none else!!
Why he feels insecure I cant understand. Any suggestions??

My daughter will be three in April and all she talks about is school. I researched the only two preschools we have around here. We have headstart and a preschool at the YMCA. We make too much for headstart so my only options are sending her to the Y or not sending her at all. The only thing is the cost. It will cost $125 a month for her to go. Classes are three days a week. I have no experience whatsoever with preschool so I was wondering if this sounded like too much money to pay. Also, is preschool good for kids to attend?

My son just turned 3 in December. We have been trying to potty train for months. I know he is ready. He knows when he needs to potty.

I ask him all the time if he needs to go and he says 'no'. Sometimes I will just set him on the potty and he goes no problem. He loves flushing and doesn't seem to be afraid of the toilet.

He controls it on his own. However when it's time to go, he will go on the floor anywhere in the house BUT the bathroom. I mean literally pulling down his pants and pooing on the furniture, the carpet or just in his pants.

What do I do??
