I have a 3yo son and a 5yo girl.
My 3yo son dosnet listen to ANYTHING. Yes, I realize its normal to an extent. Ive been consitant with time out(never worked),I take things away,Ive even gone the mustard route. Which at first worked but now he'll open his mouth on his own. w/o me getting into full detail, try to assume that he really is just terrible at listening, instead of telling me to be consitant. I have been.Dont judge me as a mom.Youve seen those VERY out of control kids,he's not THAT wild(yet) Id like a magical idea or is it possible that at his age, theres something more? Are some children just naturally alot more "active"(to say it nicely) My patience with him is about to hit zero. I dont have the strength to do this anymore, especially now that Im a newly grieving mom. Help! If you can. I want to remain a benelovent mom.

My little guy just turned one. I have started giving him more big people food and hes doing well with it. I am running out of good ideas on what to give him. He likes pasta pretty good, so he gets alot of that, and he likes his veggies, crackers, etc. I'm just wondering if anyone has any one year old friendly recipes.. or just anything that your one year old really liked that I could give my little fella. Thank you!!

Lately changing my 16 month old son is horrible. He won't lay down or lay still, I"ve tried everything. Toys, drinks, books, musical toys, kitchen utensils, but nothing keeps him occupied long enough to change him. I quickly learned how to change him standing up, but now, everytime he sees me coming at him with a diaper, he takes off. I do want to start potty training him, because he always says the word potty, and he likes to play with the potty, also he grabs himself and says potty, but he HATES the baby potty I bought, and sometimes he is scared of the big potty. I'm not even sure if he understands, enouh to do this. Any suggestions dealing with dipaer hassles?

I babysit from home because I have children of my own. While the older ones are at school, I'm home with my three year-old. I babysit a 2 year-old, but the mother doesn't like to pay me and makes it known although she had confessed to me that every other place she had called before me were charging too much. Plus she is trying to force me to potty train her son because she is too busy hanging out after work. So, I need to look for another child to care for. I'm signed on with sittercity, but no luck yet. Could you tell me of any websites or places that I could contact? I live in Southern Ct. Thank you very much.

i want to be able to work but can't.

My husband works full-time during the day. I cant put my kids into a day care while i work as it will cost too much(worked out£256.00 per week) and i have no family support to look after the little ones if i was to go to work.

I wouldn mind doing nights but there are limited jobs that i can do with no qualifications such as cleaning, waiting on or bar work.

Trouble is my partner works in north wales and i live in newton le willows and he doesnt get home till late. he can come home one night at 5 0' clock, then the next night 7 0' clock- as he gets stuck in traffic and if i was to go to work i would have to be there for a certain time and not when i can turn up.

I really want to work as im bored of not being able to bring a wage into the home and it gets me out to meet new people. does anyone have any ideas?

no stupid ones such as going into prostitution please!!!!

ive got a lad whos 23mths old and a little girl whos 9mths old. i've found that my son doesnt like giving me cuddles and doesnt actually give me any kind of affection.

my little girl on the other hand wont leave me alone. she follows me around everywhere crying, she always wants carrying and picking up (although im quite strict about how many times i pick her up because of this problem) she cling onto my pants and shes even learned to climb the stairs on her own so she can follow me.

I know its very cute and lovely that she wants my affection but its getting really annoying. I dont pick her up when she wants to, although i dont neglect her. I never had this problem with my son. Is it because girls are more clingy than boys or has she got some sort of behaviour problem? i know shes only 9mths old but i think its this time i should be firm so she doesnt get too clingy in the future.

My Mom lives far away and visits every few months.
Everytime she is here we end up getting into an argument over my kids.
This time we were at the mall and I was taking my 3 yr old son up and down the escalater for fun. I made sure to hold his hand. So I tell her to do it while I run to return something at a store.
I come back and she is not holding his hand, I said "Mom hold his hand"
Mom: "I'm standing right here"
Me: "Just hold his hand"
Mom: "But it's almost done" (it wasn't, they were still half way down)
Me: "He might fall and break his head, just please hold his hand"
Mom: "But I am right here and he won't let me anyway"
Me: "So then you tell him he can't go on the escalater if he doesn't hold your hand, he always holds my hand"
Mom: "You got a lot of nerve"
Me: "No, you have a lot of nerve, I'm his mother and I am asking you to please hold his hand, he is only 3 yrs old, he could fall"
Mom: "So you are saying I don't care about my grandson"

I've looked at a few different ones online, but can't tell how stable they are. A couple of product reviews suggest certain ones flip over when the child's weight isn't perfectly centered.

Which learn-to-walk toys have you been happy with in terms of safety, stability, and fun for the child?

Thank you.

My 19 month old daughter loves stuff like Chef Boyardee's Ravioli, Kraft Mac & Cheese, but will not hardly touch anything healthy/"home-made". She does love peas, but spits out any other vegetable. I have tried giving her healthy, home cooked foods & snacks with no success. Does anyone have any recommendations that your toddler has actually liked? I'm looking for things in the store and recipes. Please, only answers from people who have tried the foods on toddlers and have had success. Thanks!!

Our 2 1/2 year old does not want to talk to her Nana on the phone, which is a big issue since she lives 3 hours away - we can only visit her about once a month (she can't drive), but she calls almost every day.

This not wanting to talk to Nana issue started maybe about 6 months ago with us having to coax her into talking on the phone - but that was happening with both my parents and Nana. She now loves to talk to Grammie and Grampy (who only live 20 minutes away and see her all the time), but as soon as we pick up the phone and say, "Hi Nana," she covers her ears and scrunches down on the couch or runs away - we have to threaten her (no Toy Story tonight) to get her to just say a few words. This big change occurred after Nana spent Christmas week at our house in an attempt to get them to connect, which just went so bad - she didn't even want to play with Nana. Nana is 80 years old and is EXTREMELY sensitive - she thinks her granddaughter hates her. We just don't know what to do!

My grandson w hom we are caring for now sleeps from 10 p.m. till 8 a.m. - he naps at 3 or 4 p.m.. Yes, we try to get him to sleep by 8 p.m. (if only) and start rocking him etc. from 1 plm on - and yes he excercises, eats fine etc.. The "Mother's Day Out' program expects him to nap after lunch, we'd like that too. Any solutions or insights? Only solution we are trying now is to wake him at 6 a.m. and hope that adjusts things. My two kids had this problem too and it exhausted us for years. I don't want to go through this again. This forum promises some great help and I appreciate any ideas.

I will put her on the toilet every ten minutes and she doesn't go, but it seems like every time, about 1 hour into this routine, she'll go in her pull-up as soon as she gets off the toilet. I would really appreciate some input as to what may work. Thank you!

It always boggled me. Once you reached 1, I thought it made more sense to just start counting down the years after that.

But i'm open to being enlightened on the matter...why do they count by months even after reaching 1 year old?
