Get some flavored chapstick or lip balm. Maybe chocolate, strawberry, or blue raspberry flavored. (Tastes good. Not just looks and smells good.) Make sure that it is colorful and fun to her. Give it to her as a present and act like it's something special...something big girls get to use. I remember that I got some blue and some silver lip balm stuff, and I loved it! (it didn't turn my lips any colors, i just *THOUGHT* it did.)

Also, make a show out of putting on your own chapstick/lip balm stuff. Say, "___(name)___, guess what? Mommy's putting on her special lipstick. I know of a big girl who has her own special lipstick too..." Make her feel cool and grown up. =]

Some chapsticks taste better--a fruit flavor maybe. You could maybe make a game of it by putting a bunch on your lips then kissing her. Hey, talk to her- ask her what the problem is. Maybe she likes to have sore chapped lips? Maybe she would rather put it on herself? Use the question as an opportunity for some good communication, then listen.

Try one of the kinds that are very "slick" and go on easily. You might even get one of those with the slight tint and ask her if she wants some "lipstick" like mommy. Or you could try the kind with a slanted tip or the roller ball. The different looking tip may make her interested. If you go to the makeup aisle, you can find lots of fruit-flavored sticks that are for kids. When you help your daughter brush her teeth, VERY light use the brush on her lips to remove some of the dead skin. Or you can try a modified version of what we do in the hospital to keep patients' lips moist and free of dead skin. Take a clean, unused sponge. Dip the end in mouthwash and lightly rub her lips. Also, remind her not to lick her lips when you see her doing it outdoors.

Have your tried different flavors? My mom would use good old petroleum jelly. Avon has a slew of chapsticks. What if you called it lipstick or makeup? Give it a different name.

My BF child loves the stuff and is always asking for "lips"

I hope this helps.

This is great mommy and daughter time.Get a big mirror and act like you guys are doing makeup.Let all the make up be fake except the chapstick.Get different color chapsticks and a makeup bag for her. This will allow her to feel girly and little grown up but at the same time help you to get her to wear the chapstick!!!Goodluck!!!!!!!!!!

Try giving your daughters more water. Hydration works better than chapstick for dry lips. Instead of offering the stick to them, try getting flavored ones and use them yourslef while they are watching and just happen to leave them out. Children love to mimic behaviors.

Get some that have the cartoons on them what ever she likes best then just pretend that it's lipstick. That's how I got my daughter to use it. I told her it was the same lipstick that Cinderella wears plus it had a picture of Cinderella on the chap-stick. It worked great for her. Good Luck

Chapstick can feel weird on lips. Its waxy and heavy. Try the flavored kinds that have a smooth consistancy.
