I do an in home daycare and I have always had all my children in a rather structured setting. We have circle time, story time, craft time, nap time, lunch time, snack time, free play time, outside time, music/dance time etc. And even during the holidays when I don't have my daycare kids I still follow this for my own children. I find that children tend not to act up as much if they are kept busy. But I also give them time to develop their own independent play. I hope this helps :)

Just mums ? I'm a liberal dad - will I do ?
My view is that even at 15 months kids need structure - to get ready for the rest of their lives. Regular patterns for eating, sleeping, bathing are a great start.
Also knowing the rules to behaviour can never start to early - showing screaming doesn't get you what you want and so forth.
However much we may not like structure and rules - we all have to live by them so start early.

This is the time when children should and can learn the most so structure is very important. At 15 mos. old a child should already have set routines for bed, bath, naps and meals. The more you teach your child at this age the better it will be for all the rest of the child's life.

well i have studded child care and yearly years education for the last 3 yrs and have 5yr old daughter but i have two ides about this one being a parent its important to show love have a routine nothing to st ricked except bed time. make sure you show lots of love have fun! As a child care worker i would say that you need to be stimulating all the senses in different activity's throughout the day and a very clear routine that dose not change unless it has to! so i guess i don't know if its your child go with your hart and if its some one else do as they say!

I think there should definately be structure. but when I say structure I am meaning more like a routine...... My son has a daily routine, sometimes the times are off, but he always knows what to expect. I've found it helps him be a much happier baby, he doesn't have to wonder if he's going to eat or when he's going to sleep.
