My friend, "Angela" is verbally abusive towards her one-year-old daughter, saying things like: "Shut up stupid god damned baby. I really hate you sometimes!" Angela never says anything nice to this baby when I'm around, instead she always screams horrible things at her for no reason, and leaves her crying in the other room for very long periods of time saying "If she weren't such a brat, I might actually want to spend time with her, but she just gets on my nerves." Today, Angela called me saying that the baby kept trying to climb up the stairs and no matter how many times she screamed "NO" the baby kept climbing. They don't have a gate, and I told her they need to buy one, but she said, "She'll only have to fall down once before she won't ever want to try that again." I am a mother of 3 children and have never spoken to or about my kids this way. Angela and I have been friends for 17 years, but I have never seen this side of her before. What should I do?

Hi. My son is 21 months old. He only speaks 6 words and even those 6 he rarely says. We have had him tested and nothing is physically/mentally wrong with him he is just stuborn. My husband keeps hinting that we should get him into a daycare one a week or so (since right now I am a stay at home mom with him) he thinks being around other kids will help his speach. This is a very sensitive subject for me, as I also feel maybe I have done something wrong in teaching him. I follow all of the advise given and still nothing works. I am VERY against sending my son to daycare (as I don't want a stranger raising my son)
What is your opinion on this. Is my husband just pouring salt into my wounds or should I really look into taking his advise although it is against my better judgement.
Please reply kindly as I am very sensitive about this. thanks

My son is three years old and keeps messing with his penis, everytime he is naked he touches and squeezes it and even swings it. I have even caught him with is out of his pants messign with it while watching tv. Since he is now in underwear he always holds and squeezes it through the underwear. I asked him why he keeps messing with it and he says he don't know and i know kids are curious but i wonder is it normal for him to be messing with it so much. And if i should tell him not to, i dont want to encourage his penis playing by not saying anything when he does it.

Today when my daughter and I were taking a nap I woke up and couldn't open my mouth. She had gone into the kitchen and got some crazy glue. I have been trying to get ahold of people but no luck since I can't talk and my wife doesn't get home for an hour. Any suggestions on how to get the glue off?

When do people stop doing this? I have heard of people, up to age two, saying their child is 17 months or 22 months. Why not say that they are a year and a half or almost two instead?

and do I need to think about special schools?
I don't know kids, only my own, but I just asked a question about her thinking lower case g was a baby 9, ( cute, I know) and got 30 people telling me she's advanced! She is 2 and 7 months, she knows her letters and numbers, colors and shapes, animals, and is learning to spell 2 and 3 letter words, she's been potty trained for ages ( all I did was say no more diapers, we go in the potty, and she has ever since), I don't even know what else is relevant, but she loves to learn... so what do I do? I want her to enjoy her childhood, but also don't want her to be bored or frustrated when she does start school, any advice? thanks.

Hi i have a little girl who is 2 in April. She has not been very well, she has had this cold that has been around, and still getting teeth. She has been a lot better today but the problem is she has started to get out of bed at night and tonight she did not want to go to sleep, and kept getting up after i had read her a story and put her to bed. She shares a room with my 4 year old daughter and it wakes her up 2. I think it has become a habbit getting up as she has been unwell. Does anyone else have this problem ? Any advice ?

My 18 month old godson is throwing tantrums....I watch him full time while mom and dad are at work, what are some things you have done to correct this. As of now, we sit him on the stairs and ignore him while his tantrum progresses, as a timeout sort of. It seems to kind of work, but the whole ignoring him thing is the only thing we have done so far. Sometimes when he throws a tantrum (generally because he was told no or can't have our food, etc) I get down on his level and hold his hands and firmly (not yelling) look at him and say, "You are fine, no need to yell at us" and sometimes it seems to work as well. What are some experiences you have had with similar situations.

Any suggestions? TIA

How did those of you who have toddlers get shoes on your kids? My 17 month old curls her feet and toes up so much that I can't even try them on to see what size shoe she is. She's not walking yet; however, but when she finally does (she was a preemie and is in weekly therapy), I would like to be able to pick up a pair of shoes for her without having to try numerous pairs on and having her have a fit in the store. Any suggestions??

My daughter is going to be 4 years old tomorrow! She cries for her sippy cup at bedtime....and any other time she is just relaxing. I'm just happy she doesn't suck her thumb. Anyone else have similar issues with a preschooler?

My husband and I are in a constant battle over what our responsibilities are to each other and as parents. We have 3 children. All of which are girls, who are 3 years old and then we have 9 month old twins. I stay at home everyday with them while he goes to work. He works 40 hours a week at his job. I feel like I work non-stop. I cook, clean, feed, bathe, change, dress, comfort, and play with our three children all day long. I also clean the house, cook meals, try to budget our money, and get groceries. I don't get lunch breaks, or to just get off work. He doesn't feel that he should have to come home and help right when he gets home. He wants to take a shower and watch tv. He will help out sometimes, but I have to ask him or tell him what to do. He also goes to bed everynight at around 8 or 8:30 and I am left up to get everyone bathed, and in bed. I think that we should have equal responsiblities when he gets home from work? I feel like I have been working all day too. AM I RIGHT?

I lived in the same city when he was born and babysat him a lot before I married and moved a year later. We now live over 500 miles apart. He's almost three and I want him to remember me, to know who I am, and to be able to love me. I like to give him gifts, but what's something I can give that will be beneficial to his memory of me?

Its only a dollar store toy, but if the car is pushed hard enough, some of the sparks come out. Obviously I am throwing the car away, but those could burn him right? Or start a fire?
