I lived in the same city when he was born and babysat him a lot before I married and moved a year later. We now live over 500 miles apart. He's almost three and I want him to remember me, to know who I am, and to be able to love me. I like to give him gifts, but what's something I can give that will be beneficial to his memory of me?

Make him tapes of you doing things, like singing the itsy bitsy spider, wheels on the bus, etc. You could also read books, and he could watch them to remember you.

You should keep it simple! You should spend the day with him at the park or chuckie cheese or some place fun like that, and take pictures with him while the two of you are there; then you could put the pictures in a frame or in a scrapbook for him keep. That way he will not only remember you, but he will remember being with you!

My son LOVES to get mail! His "aunt" (a good friend of mine) moved a few hours away when he was 2 and since then (he'll be 6 in April) she always sends him little cards and letters, but mostly pictures of her dogs!! He loves that and has them hanging all over his bedroom. He tells everyone that this is his Aunt Sheri and her dog and that she lives far away now and he can't wait to visit her.

my nephew is 3 and lives in Kansas...to help him remember my husband and I, I decided to start making small scrapbook like books as learning books. I bought several small scrapbooks at a local dollar store and also bought things like foam animals, numbers, colors, shapes and so on...then I would put them together and add my "special" touch to them by drawing in things to go with the page...ie: add a dog house for the puppy page, or a garden on the flower page, goal post for the football page ect...
when we are together I give him the book, and we look at it together, and I make sure to tell him that I drew the "special" parts. My sister says that when he looks at them now, he points to what I've added and says my name...I've also done a small photo album with pictures of my husband and I, our pets, and things to help him remember his family back here in Indiana

A webcam , this is how i keep in touch with all my family and friends and their children. My nephew "speaks" to me once a week via webcam and gets very excited when he sees my face. Then when i visit him he knows exactly who i am. It's not expensive to buy either. Also make him a photo album which he can look at and add to it together with momentos and special photos you can send each other and take together and make a big thing of adding them to his photo album. Of course he'll need his mummy to help him , i'm not suggesting he does it himself :)

Buy or make a special picture frame, and put a shot of the 2 of you in it.

Each time you do manage to see him, make sure you get a new shot, and mail it to him. Kids love mail and your sibling could collect all of them for a nice scrapbook later.

Get on e-bay and find recordable things like picture frames, light switch plates, christmas ornaments. Anything you can add your pic and voice to. DVD greetings are easy and fun. My whole family lives three states away and my children know and love them all. It just takes time and creativity.

Send fun letters, post cards, pictures of you to him regularly. It might be fun to make a photo album with him the next time you see him. Fill it with pictures of you guys or places you went. Call from time to time to "chat" with him and say hello. Kids that age love hearing someone talk to them on the phone

My son LOVES to look at photos of family on the computer. In fact, we turn on a slideshow sometimes when he is settling down for a nap. He lights up and shouts "Taco Kiss!" (his name for "Uncle Chris") or "Gramma!" "Papa!" etc. He's two and remembers family and friends very well.

The parents can help you with this, call your nephew and tell the mother or father to keep remember your name to the kid. Also toys are a good way for him to associate it with you.
