Wear him out! First I would make sure he is not napping to long at day care. Is he fighting bed time because of the separation from you? Maybe try to make sure he is outside getting a lot of physical exercise before you bring him in for dinner. Then after dinner or about 7:00 only allow relaxing activities. Give him a warm bath, read him a story. Talk softly and leave the house dim. Have you tried to play any of the relaxing sound Cd's sounds of birds, water falls, etc. This (if it is sounds he likes) is very relaxing to the kids or anyone. Good luck. Be firm and consistent and it will happen. I would also get him up a little earlier in the morning,

That's something you should try earlier in your 3 yr old girl, but there are a lot of us who did not think that way until it turns to a problem.. anyway, what works for me was the "5minutes take off" every 3 days.. that is, today put him down at 9:25..and the next two days....then at 9:20..... Is a little slow technique, but I ensure you that if you are consistence and dont'n let pass one day, practicing this, in less than 2 months your boy will be in bed at 8:30.
Good Luck :)

First, find out how long he is sleeping at daycare, and what time he is sleeping. Then when you get home take the time out of all that needs to be done to blow off the day....be a kid yourself and run and play. Do all the things active that the child enjoys. Not only will this help drain any extra energy, it is a GREAT stress reliever for us parents, as well. Then after dinner, give the child a warm bath...play in there, as well. After-wards, go to bed with him and read a book. He will be happy, clean and worn out with some warm snugly sheets...trust me this works every time! Who knew that doing the hokey pokey, or cold spaghetti dances with your little one could be so fun?? psst....also great calorie burners!!

I have the same problem and let me tell you...there's nothing you can do. We have night owls. I don't have to be at work until much later, so I wake her up around 7:30, but on the weekends she will sleep until 10 am if I let her. Mine is a little worse than yours though...I'm lucky if she's asleep by 11 pm.
Just remember to take away any stimulation from him. I remove all of her toys at night (drag the toy box into the hallway), no nightlight, nothing! If she has something to play with, she will.

Start a new bedtime routine that ends with him being in bed by 8:15 and getting a story read. Cut down on daytime naps, get him up earlier in the mornings. It will probably take a week or so for him to get into the habit of going to bed earlier but he should slowly start to understand that after a snack and bath, he gets a bedtime story and then it's nighty-night time. Good luck!

Good luck! My ten year old can't fall asleep until weee hours of the night and is very cranky in the morning when he has to go to school. Maybe daycare is letting him take too long of a nap. I would ask them how long he sleeps.

My friends kids had that problem. It turned out the daycare facility was letting the kids sleep way too long during the day.

does he get a nap while he's @ daycare ?
perhaps they let him sleep for too long & then he's not tired when it's time to go to bed. Ask them if it would be ok for him to look @ books while he's on his matt @ nap time, we use to do that @ the day care I worked @

good luck & give him time he will start to love day care once he gets use to it

I have the same problem with my kids. But I start having them go lay down by 8. Just be consistent and get him up as soon as you get up so he is tired by the evening. It is going to take some time for him to adjust but as long as you keep making him go lay down at the time you want him down and get him up at the same time as you his body will adjust to the time.
