My niece is a size 4t in height, but she needs a larger size because she is chubby and has bigger shoulders. The larger sizes are too long however. Is there a store that specializes in clothing for larger children?

JC Penney used to have fuller-cut clothing for children. I don't recall which catalogs I've seen, but I have seen some catalogs with girls' clothes in sizes for larger children.

I don't really understand, though, why she can't wear whatever jersey fits her shoulders and whatever skirt or pants fit her from the waist down. When it comes to dresses it may actually be flattering for her to wear a larger dress that comes down a little longer - kind of elegant, particularly when worn with the right shoes.

At about four years old there are overalls and other types of pants that actually wouldn't look all that bad rolled up, but hemming is also a possibility.

Something else to consider is the type of top or dress (how it is cut). Some thing are styled in a way that they're kind of supposed to be full anyway; others are aimed at fitting snugly. Just stay away from those.

Get the bigger size and either roll up the bottoms or wash them once or twice and get them hemmed.
