and do I need to think about special schools?
I don't know kids, only my own, but I just asked a question about her thinking lower case g was a baby 9, ( cute, I know) and got 30 people telling me she's advanced! She is 2 and 7 months, she knows her letters and numbers, colors and shapes, animals, and is learning to spell 2 and 3 letter words, she's been potty trained for ages ( all I did was say no more diapers, we go in the potty, and she has ever since), I don't even know what else is relevant, but she loves to learn... so what do I do? I want her to enjoy her childhood, but also don't want her to be bored or frustrated when she does start school, any advice? thanks.

I would put her in preschool and see what they say. My daughter is really advanced and picks up quickly on physical/coordination type things...also she is now picking up super quick on writing and figuiring out puzzles. She is 3. Find a preschool that caters to your childs strengths and weaknesses. A lot of kids that are super advanced in one area are a little slower in others and a good preschool can help build both areas. I wouldn't worry about special schools at this point. I was extrememly advanced in reading/writing etc at your daughters age by kindergarten i was put in 4th grade for reading and writing...just make sure whatever school she goes to is encouraging her to learn and letting her advance at her pace. Good luck =)

Wait and see how she does when she starts school. In the meantime encourage her with books and music and expose her to different fun and interesting things - like museums and zoos. Going to school is also a time to learn to socialize with peers, and also about learning self control and discipline (in order to sit still and learn - for some kids this is a big challenge.) Once your daughter gets used to school, that can be the time to have her tested for gifted programs.

Advanced for her age, sure. Needing special mensa schooling, doubtful. Within a year or two, her friends will most likely be completely on track with her. There is nothing wrong in taking pride in knowing that she is mentally strong and you helped her achieve that. Keep her interested! Good parenting.

When my wife and I adopted our first son, I was pretty sure he was a genius. As it turns out, I am just a proud father, and still brag about my perfectly normal kid on a regular basis. Although your child may be gifted, I wouldn't push the issue. You don't want to tell her she is the smartest kid in the world, only to cripple her with a haughty and unteachable spirit when she is older.

Send her for evaluation at a private school. They can tell you how advanced she may be.

Please don't put pressure on her to excel, the other kids may catch up with her.

shes normal most kids can do that at this age. leave her alone if you start forcing education on her you will ruin her love of learning. all toddlers are like this
