We babysit a one year old and we cant get her to drink a sippy cup on her own. The only way she will drink from it is if you hold it up for her which my mom has done since she was 7 months. If we refused to give give her a bottle for a few days would she finally drink from it or will it be bad for her to not get a drink that long? Any other suggestions?

He doesn't listen to anything I know like to when to take away the bottle , about table food, the baby's weight of anything even though I'm the only one who takes care of him.Even though I talk to his doctor and read alot of books. He still calls his mother and acts like she know it all and I know nothing. Even I know she wrong once and a while from the doctor. Like dipping the pacfier in honey when he was a newborn. He even tries to tell me what to do ,and he never has don't one thing to take care of him since he was born. What should I do?

My son has made some strange comments lately about death. It started shortly after my husband's grandmother passed away. My husband went to the funeral in another state and was gone for a couple days. He thought that he also went to President Ford's funeral, because "daddy goes to funerals". I did explain to him briefly what death was, and what happened to great grandma. He didn't have any questions at the time. But most recently, he has said things like, "Well, when I'm dead..." or "When I die I won't be here no more..." Breaks a mother's heart! What do I do? Is this just something kids go through?

I'm having trouble training my 2 year old. If i let her run around naked from the waist down, she will go in the potty every single time. Yet seeing as that is not practical, as soon as i put a pull-up, diaper or even underwear on her, she won't go to the potty. Does anyone have any suggestions??

I have tried not using pullups and using underpants but he doesnt want to be bothered with taking the time to go to the potty. He has used the potty but only if I'm taking him every 30 mins and even that is like pulling teeth...

My husband and I have a 6 year old daughter and a 3 year old daughter. When ever my husband cuddles my 6 year old or gives her any "individual" attention, the 3 year old freaks out and latches on to his leg. He spends a lot of time with each girl collectively and individually, yet they both can not get enough. I worry because I have a son who will be born any day now. Things will certainly only get worse...

He isn't hyper, his dad just left from coming home from his r&r from iraq, which he is back in iraq now, and he is having a hard time sleeping. I DO NOT WANT to doop him up on benadryl or medicines, i want a all natural way to help him sleep. He has been going to bed extremely late, 2 or 3 am, and he refuses to sleep in his room, says that he is scared and there is something in there. when he does sleep in his room, i will wake up in the middle of the night and find him in bed with me! he sneaks in with out a movement or sound. This isn't a bad child or hyper, he is very well behaved. Any advice that is helpful is welcomed.

Ive been "seeing" this girl for four months now. Were not dating, were just hooking up alot. I have a four year old son, hes mom left us right after he was born. This girl know that were not or never will be more than what we are now and were both ok with that. Well lately my son has been asking for her all the time. Shes so nice to him and she really cares about him alot, i honestly think she even loves him. Everything was fine until 3 days ago when he called her mommy, right away he corrected himself and said i mean ashley but its scaring me, hes so attached to her and i know its not going anywhere. Please tell me what you think i should do about this.

My son is the sweetest little boy and my hearts breaks every time I pick him up. Is there anything I can do to console him and make him enjoy his time there?... I tell him that Mommy loves him and that I will be back to pick him up very soon and give him a kiss good bye. Any other suggestions?

I was raised on Sesame Street, my mother swore by it so it struck me as odd when a parent recently told me she didn't allow her children to watch the show. Now, i know it's been nearly twenty years since I watched it, but I thought it was educational. Teaches letters, numbers, shapes, colors, matching, some spanish, reading, etc. Has something happened to the show I should be aware of? Other children I care for watch it and I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary.
Her children are very bright 18mos and 3yrs, I would have thought Sesame Street would be perfect.

I have twin boys - they are 2 years and 4 months. They hear three languages at home - grandma speaks one, my husband speaks second and speak third to them. They can identify all animals and shapes in all languages, but they only say "mama", "dada" and "Tedo" (name of one of the twins). I've read that children of their age should be able to speak 2-word sentences, and i don't know if it time to raise alarm. Please advise.

My youngest son is only 16 months old, he's a happy little baby.. my oldest son is 4, he's happy too, but hes so mean sometimes. After Christmas they got soooo many new toys, and whenever my youngest son plays with one of my older son's toys my older son gets so angry, he pushes his little brother down, and or squeezes, slaps, or screams at my younger son. My younger son got a lot of new toys for Christmas and now the older one wants to share, but his idea of sharing is taking his younger brothers toys and "borrowing" them.. and then when he wants to play with his own toy my oldest will freak out. I try explaining that all that time.. that "its HIS toy ! leave him alone, don't hurt, have a time out.. " but nothing seems to be working. he still gets violent with his younger brother. I just wish he could share. Any ideas? is it normal for my older son to be so mean to his younger brother? I should add that we don't believe in hitting/spanking.

(alliteration not intended). I babysit this total brat who likes to scream and yell. And one time he tried to close the piano lid on my fingers. His parents warned me that he can be "a bit testy" so it's no surprise to them.
Any tips on keeping this monkey in it's cage?
