My parents left a tub of vaseline in my son's room while he was napping. 2 hrs later I go up and find that he has spread the whole tub all over his body, hair and in the carpet...I have got it out of the carpet but can't seem to get it out of my son's hair...I have tried what everyone has told me from dawn dish soap to shampoo mixed with baking soda...Does anyone know something else that won't work...PLEASE HELP

ha ha ha ha lol my sister did this years ago when she was a teen. She thought it would make her hair shiney like the girls in the shampoo commercials. I think she just shampooed it like crazy until it came out. Don't think there is a true fix for this other than just washing.
Is there an 800 number on the tub of vaseline? you might try calling the company and asking them. It's worth a shot. Good luck.

Dish soap will cut through the vaseline it may take 3 or 4 washing followed by a good conditioning.

i had this but i done it as someone told me it gets rid of cradle cap, and it does, but they never told me how evil it is to get out there hair.

sprinkle cornflower over the vaseline and pat it down with a dry towel, its grease so you need something that absolrbs the grease as vaseline clings to the hair, leave it about 20 mins then shampoo it off using a mild or gentle shampoo, i had to do this once in the morning and once at night for about three days, and it shifted a bit more each time.

what happens is the cornflower absolrbs the grease from vaseline and as you wash the cornflower out it removes the vaseline too, but vaseline is soo greasy it does take a while.

someone else told me to put cornflower on and then comb it through with a nit comb to remove resedue grease, wiping after each comnb through, then dab with kitchen roll to remove move grease, apply more connflower pat it doen and wash.

it does work

I've been there, but not vaseline...it was oil ALL OVER HIM. What I did was put regualr white baking flour in his hair, let it set for a couple of hours and then washed his hair with MY shampoo for greasy hair, at the time. My hair isn't greasy anymore. But get the shampoo for oily hair...but use the all purpose flour first. It's dry and adsorbant. Let me know if it works. I did for me.

just use shampoo on it. You'll have to wash his hair a few times but that will get it out. My daughter not only decided to put vaseline in her hair but her sisters hair as well. It all came out.

I agree with the corn flower or baby powder idea. Just be careful not to get too much dust from either so your son doesn't inhale it. You might try placing a light cloth over his nose and mouth when dispensing the powder. Good luck.

Time. Wash his hair, naturally, but time is what will get it out of his hair. My daughter smothered herself in butter once. Wasn't good. But now 12 years later it is funny!!!!

Sprinkle powder in his hair and brush it out and then wash it. The powder should absorb the grease.
