He is 17mo old and I am a single mom soooo my question is "when is he to old to watch mommy go pee pee"

2007-01-13 12:46:56 · 9 answers · asked by Lori C 3

I'm a single mom to a 19 mo.old. I adore him, but as a first time mom, I'm unsure if he spends too much time around me? He'd much rather follow me into every room (bathroom too), instead of playing with his toys or watching a video. Some toddlers sit happily in front of a TV but mine doesn't. I prefer he not watch too much, but a little more space from him would also be nice at times. Even if we are sitting in his playroom, he jumps on me, makes smiley faces at me, does "toddler babble" at me, etc. If I get up to leave, even for a minute, he gets upset. It's cute but sometimes hard.

I work fulltime and he's in daycare, otherwise, I'm with him. I take him everywere I go since I also don't have family that can watch him. Sitters are expensive, but occasionally I know I probably need to have a night to myself since I never do anything alone.

Do more experienced moms feel that he is just being a typical toddler? Do we spend too much time together? I never want to neglect him.

When he was an infant, the medicine pacifire worked. Then up to a few months ago, I could hold him down and get him to swallow it by blowing in his face(it made him swallow). But NOW nothing works not even flavors and all he does is spit it out! He's got a cold and totally miserable and won't take his medicine. Does anyone have any suggestions? Anything worked for you?

My son, I love him to death, but he is just not appreciative of his toys or items he gets. I stopped buying him toys and even taking him places. Other than a spanking and taking away all of his toys, what other suggestions could you offer? Its just weird that he is like this cause I certainly was not raised like this.

almost every time you tell her off...according to my coworker she does this on purpose, so we won´t tell her off anymore, I don´t believe it, I think the child is just very sensitive and doesn´t pee in her pants on purpose....I mean , how long can she have been potty-trained for?? and besides I don´t think a 2-year.old can think of such a strategy... what do you think?

Anybody interested? I am the mommy to a gifted 6 and 3 year old. I make up clever games for them all of the time. I've had people tell me I should write an eBook, but I don't know if anyone would really be interested in buying it.

What is the cutest thing that you have ever heard a little child say. It can be a very interesting question like this one I heard, "Mommy, does g-d have a husband???" Or just something really cute and funny. What have young kids said to you that made you think and/or laugh???

He apparently is constipated but passes stools every day or two. It causes him terrible pain to pass large, bulky motions. He has to push so hard, I worry about his blood pressure at that point. The poo often breaks off and gets stuck in his anus causing even more distress. It culminates in slight tearing and bleeding of his anus which is obviously very painful and sore. It is normal colour and fairly soft - not dark small pebbles like you'd expect for constipation. GP's advise senna but when I was giving it regularly I think it was making matters worse as he was passing 'smears' of poo in his nappy all day long. I also think it could of been giving him tummy aches. He has a healthy varied diet and although dislikes most fruit and fruit juice, he eats lots of veg and drinks copious amounts of water. Any suggestions of the cause and/or natural remedies greatly appreciated.

My son is 2 1/2. I know he's really smart for his age, and his Dr. has even commented that he is way ahead of himself cognitively. He's known all his colors since he was 2, can count to 20, spells his name, knows the alphabet (he skips a few,I think efg and qrs), recognizes 1-10, most letters, and can count items up to 20.
My question is, if he's picking up this stuff so quickly, why won't he potty train? At 18 months, he used the potty for the first time, and now a year later has no intrest. I've never "pushed" it, because I know that can delay him. But how do I get him interested? How come he's so advanced everywhere else, but not with the potty? I feel like I'm going to be changing diapers forever! I even put the potty in the living room where he spends all his time, and he'll sit in the potty with the top down and go in his diaper. Then I took his diaper off and let him run around, and when he peed on himself, he freaked! Any suggestions????

I am a 1st time mom of a toddler, and since he began running around, I've had to struggle with him and the housework sometimes. (Don't get me wrong, my house IS clean, it's just I usually have to wait til he's asleep to get anything done.) We have older roomates (huge house) that help with dishes and clean up after themeslves (but I don't trust them to sit), and I hate leaving him alone while I clean because he fusses, cries, etc. but I refuse to keep a dirty house and this just isn't working like is. Also, I've tried taking him in with me while I clean and that takes up more time trying to keep an eye on him.
Do any moms of toddlers that had or understand my difficulty, have any suggestions?

I have been trying to potty train her on and off since she turned two. She hates to have a dirty diaper and understands what the potty is for. However, she refuses to use it. She will sit on it for awhile them she wants to get up, minutes later she wets her panties. If I just continue to put her in panties and deal with the mess will she eventully get the hang of it?

My 2-year-old girl always needs a soother when she goes to bed; she even searches for it in her sleep and puts it in her mouth, i dont know how to make her stop using it. Moreover, she needs to watch video of all ads and title songs of serials when she is eating, which i started when she was just 4 months old. Now, she refuses to have even a spoon of food, if the video is not running. I even tried engaging her mind in toys and even took her out while feeding. But nothing works. Pl. tell me how to make her overcome both these addictions.
