I think the natural history museum, because it is fascinating and would intrigue such young minds. There is an amazing whale there on display and many other creatures which are behind glass, so little hands would not be able to touch and break them.

Either would be good. I recently took my kids to a natural history museum where their "stuffed" animals, some now extinct, raised some rather difficult to answer questions, but it had a really cool dinosaur exhibit that the kids loved. Children's museums and Science Museums usually have some interactive exhibits for those kids who just love to touch stuff. Most Museums have websites where you can find out what the kids would be seeing and you could figure out which would be best based on the kids' interests. Sometimes the museums have special visiting exhibits or characters that would make the day more kid-friendly.

All the museums apart from British museum are located close together. We went there for the day and visited most of them only going to the parts we knew would be of interest. I think the Natural history and science museums are your best bet. And they are free too. Have a good day out

We took my son, then about 20 months, to the Science Museum in October, and he loved it - there is plenty there for the children to do, especially the dedicated childrens area, which if I remember right was in the basement - there wasn't anything majorly breakable, and there are plenty of different areas to hold their interest, plus cafes, a shop, etc. I would definitely go back and take children with me, simply because if a 20 month old can get something out of it, any child should be able to!
Have a fab day!!

Too bad there isn't a children's museum. We have the world's largest and it's great. Since that's not an option I'd say the history museum. You can tell them stories about what they're seeing. It may be a little more interesting for them.
