It's fine. My son is 2 years in a couple of weeks. He just decided he likes showers and of course he is too young to do it alone so he gets in with me. Watching you go pee pee only will get him interested in going himself. I would say around 3 or 4 is too old. Right now all it is is teaching him. My son has taken showers with me and my husband and is already aware that daddys peepee is not like mommy's. It's not like there's any innapropriate touching or anything happening. My son especially likes to watch me go pee pee so he can flush and tell the pee pee byebye and wash his hands. I think this is great for him learning to potty train, and trust me, he wont want to watch you go forever! haha This is a good time for young children to learn anatomy and how to do things like shower and go potty and wash their hands. later it will actually be weird or they will be shy about it, so teach now.

I have to make a conscious effort to remember to close the bathroom door when I'm out or have company over. I've forgotten what it's like to go to the bathroom by myself.I think a child younger than 3 or 4, can't distinguish the difference between Mommy shutting the door on them for a couple minutes and Mommy shutting the door on them forever!

I raised 6 children and don't remember when I was finally able to go to the bathroom with the door closed. I don't think a child should actually come into the bathroom, I kept the door open so I could hear what they were doing. If they saw me I never made an issue of it. I really didn't like them in if I were doing a BM, I never bathed or showered with them. If you don't make an issue it should cease on it's own. Some children are more clingy than others, especially an only child. You do leave him to go to work,so he may have that fear when you're out of sight. Leave the door open, give him something else to do, a toy or something to distract him.

My son does this also. I try to shut the door but he just sits there, bangs on the door, and yells at me. I just let him come in with me for now. I figure when he starts to potty on his own maybe I can push him off on his father. Even then I doubt he will stop wanting to be with me at all times. I guess I will just have to wait until he is a little older so I can tell him that mommy and daddy are different and he is like daddy so he really can't go to the bathroom with mommy anymore.
It is up to you when you think it is right. Understand though that he is to young to really understand what you are doing; all he knows is you are not in his sight, and he wants to be with you.

It depends on you and the child really. I showered with my son till he was 3 yrs old, it saved time and we had fun in the water. But one day he asked where my pee-pee was and I decided it was time to stop. You could just wait till something like that happens to let you know he is more aware of bodies and their differences.

Good luck and do what you feel is right for your family.
