They don't seem to be hurting him. I have had his ears checked, the doctor says that they look fine. I had his hearing checked, he passed. He doesn't talk very well, he can repeat everything, but he can't make his own sentances. I don't know what it could be.

I have 2 sons, my 3 year old is always smashing up his toys and telling me that he no longer wants them. Even his beloved Thomas track gets it. He is very spitfeull to his 5 yr old brother. Knows how to wind him up. When we try to discipline he just thinks it's funny. Have tried putting him on the stairs, removing toys, star charts, rewards, treats, ignoring bad behaviour. So far none of it seems to work. At present he has an empty bedroom as he totally trashed it. I caught him bouncing really hard on his bed and told him that he would have to sleep on the floor if it broke. 2 minutes later he was laughing whilst telling his brother he would have to sleep on the floor. I know that 3 yr olds can be worse than 2 yr olds. But I never had it this bad with my older son. I'm just lost for ideas. Please can someone help?? I feel like I'm failing as a mum. I try my hardest to keep my voice calm and not loose my temper but sometimes a scream from the top of a hill sounds perfect!!!

I gave her a piece of bread the first night and reminded her that she didn't eat. Then reminded her at dinner that she had woken up hungry. Last night I was so mad I told her no. And went back to bed, but then got back up and gave her a piece of bread. I felt quilty letting her lie there hungry. But I can't sleep after I get up like that so I'm close to not letting her have anything if she wakes up again tonight. Any suggestion?

I lose control when I see adults beating thier children when they cant defend themselves. I'm told I'm wrong for getting involved and I should mind my own business. My only response is try beating on someone who can hit back!

My son is 18 months, i have started to potty train. He knows to pee in the potty, but will never tell me. I have him in underware so he can feel wet but that doesn't phase him. I give him treats when he pees, but it gets very stressful for both of us. I don't want to go back to diapers. Any ideas?

My 17 month old boy has decided that his ears dont work. He has no respect for no-no. When hes doing something wrong he hollers "mama" or "nono" and lets me know hes doing a nono. He constantly gets into everything off limits. He thinks a swat on the hand is a game and laughs. He wont sleep in his bed anymore and hogs the bed all night-sleeps with me and daddy. I think he is just testing his limits, but he has started hitting too. He is very defiant and wants everything his way. I have tried very hard not to spoil him, but he still acts like hes daring me to stop him when I tell him no. I dont want to be mean to him. Any advice?

okay here is the dream. Me and my son and three other people I have never even seen in my real life are at the lake. My son is playing in the shallow end and for some reason i am on the other side of the lake. then all of a sudden there is a big heavy current and he gets swept away the lake turns into a waterfall cliff thing and he goes over the edge i jump off the cliff and try to catch him but am too late he vividly falls to the ground and lands head first on pointy rocks and I literally see his body mangled. sorry so graphic but what does this mean. also I dont think this is going to come true because I can not swim and I dont even let him out of my arms when we are around water

A few parents I know spank their toddlers (mainly little girls) and they are very well behaved. my 17th month old son is very aggressive. when i spank him and tell him not to do something (throwing/hitting) he usually laughs and imitates me by spanking himself. i've been trying to discipline him by giving him time outs but he doesnt seem like he understands what i'm trying to teach him. Is there a difference between boys and girls? and how can i discipline him effectively?

I have a hard time understanding him as well as other family members. He screams at the top of his lungs when told to stop screaming he says okay then screams again even louder. He goes into the refrigrator without permission and opens containers, spilling themall over the icebox, when I calmly explain why you don't do that he takes of running or says okay and does the samething again. He likes to dress himself, which I don't mind, but he will go into the closet after he already has dressed himself and knocks down every article of clothing in the closet. I have to fight him to go to bed, he's the first one up. dosen't take naps, spanking dosen't help, explaining dosen't help. I stay at home with the children my other two sons do not have this problem at all. What 0shoul0d I do,0 at my wits end.No one will watch him in the family, church childcare has also started backing off watching him. Stating their under staffed.000000000000

I'm in the throes of toilet teaching my 2 year old son. He has shown all the signs of readiness and knows when his diaper is wet or full, can take his pants down and his diaper off. He sits on the potty for short periods of time with no problem. I've been letting him run around with no diapers to make it easier to get on the potty in time. This morning, he sat down but kept getting up. Then he shouted the word we use for BM and got all worked up and cried. I encouraged him to sit on his potty but he looked scared. I saw his product coming so picked him up just in time for it to land safely in the potty. Then he said "uh-oh" when he saw it. Could he be afraid of actually using the potty? What can I do to help him overcome this fear?

If anyone has used them I would love to know what you thought.. Did it make training go easier?

My 22 month old has been refered to a speech therapist because he hardly talks at all. He will say maybe 5-6 words only when he wants to. My question is has anyone had a child go to one due to not talking? I am wondering what I should expect to happen. How do they help children at this age. I have not had a call back with the appointment yet. If anyone has gone through this could you let me know what to expect! My older kids have talked very early and never had this happen... I am nervous! Thanks~!
