I swear my two girls have the spirt of boys. Sometimes they get very distructive, so what I tell them is if they don't be responsible they cannot get anymore, also If i see them all over the place and not taken care of (if they are not broken) I put them in the "wish box" the toys the really wish they could get back until i see sme improvement on taking care of things. It works. But I also think its a phase kids go through. But teach them how to take care of toys, if they are distructive with toys at a young age they will be destructive with everything,I know I have little cousins that are so distructive they are like banded from play dates. That's sad!! Teach them so they wont be embarace you later.

A child has to be TAUGHT how to take care of things. When the child begins to destroy a toy take it from them and explain to them, explain that when they destroy their toys they don't get anymore. So if they want to play with the toy again later they need to take care of it.

My 2 boys, 4 and 3 tend to tear up their toys. We throw away at LEAST 2 a month! However what they dont tear up they put away nicely. My mom said I was the same way when I was smaller. So boy or girl I dont think it matters. Some kids are quiet and kind some are destructive. :)

All of my children took care of their things when they were younger. The baby- he is the best though. At 23 months he puts away his toys before its time to go to bed (with NO reminders!!), puts his dishes in the sink (usually just his cup), throws away his trash and plays nicely. HOWEVER- when it comes to trucks and cars- he destroys them, smashing them into each other and driving them into the walls- but he still picks them up and puts them away.

I say it is mainly in how you raise them to treat their things. If you show them how to take care of things and they SEE you doing the same, odds are they will do it- im not saying ALL kids will, but some will.

My son like to destroy and take things apart when he's at home with no one his age to play with. That's why i take him over his mother-in-law sometimes she keeps his cousins and they actually play together and not take things a apart. But boys will be boys i have found that out. They climb, take things apart, and try to do everything they see the father do.

Well my daughter takes perfect care of her stuff, but my son on the other hand-- that child could tear up a steel ball. He is very rough on his toys, clothes, walls, furniture, you name it.

My son, ruins everything he gets...He is like Dennis the Menace...lolz.. He is always having to take them apart and tries to put them back together unsuccessfully... He is the smartest kid in his class, so I let him have fun taking things apart, but I just don't spend as much on his toys now, like I used to.
