Does your son gag when he eats? Does he vomit? I was thinking that it could be silent reflux. You may want to ask the pediatrician where to go next to find out why he's not eating. One mouthful a day is certainly not enough to sustain him, obviously, since he's losing weight. Please speak to the doctor about this as there can be medical causes the prevent children from eating. His stomach may not be emptying it's contents fast enough, which would result in a "full feeling". Does he have regular bowel movements? Is he constipated? He may have what's called Delayed Gastric Relux. I hope some of this helps you, or at least gives you an idea about what to ask about. You might also want to consider seeing a Pediatric GI Specialist. GOOD LUCK!

I'm currently going through this with my 2 yo and I went through it with my Now 10 yo.... All I could suggest is, catch him when hes hungry or when he wants something to snack on... Its a stage hes going through. As long as you make sure you're giving him healthy snacks when hes asking to eat, he should be fine...
If he asks you for a cookie, give him a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and tell him he could have the cookie after he eats half his sandwich...
Give him a multivitamin also (like flintstones), so that he gets the nutrients hes lacking by not eating regularly... Soon he'll be eating you out of house and home... Keep up his Dr visits and make sure you ask the Dr where he stands in the growth chart and tell your Dr. your concerns.
Good luck!

Little kids are like grazing cattle, you kinda have to keep food out for em. I used to leave little bowls of dry cereal, raisins, grapes(cut in half), cheese cubes, etc on the little table where my kiddos played. Also -- try buying pediasure- freeze it in a cup, then puree it with a little whole milk to make a "healthshake" - my daughter had a terrible time gaining weight. Good luck!!!

Try some character Fromage Frais. My son insists on having what he calls "Tank" (Thomas the tank) says he doesn't want his food, but I have found if I let him have it ,he very often wants to eat when he has finished the fromage frais. Also sometimes I tell him that one of his toys (Postman Pat) has said he has to eat his dinner. I have Pat up at my ear and pretend he is talking to me- ridiculous I know but it works. Other times he will just eat but I had a few months of him not wanting anything.

dont make it a issue, this can make a child feel pressured in to feeling they have to eat ,and can put them off , esp when they sense their parents emotions so well , remember these little people have small tummies . when they are full they stop eating, also what u could try is asking them to choose what to eat and get them to make it with you.
Dont force them to eat something they cant eat , some kids are not big eaters, so dont worry to much.
hope this helps u . you are doing nothing wrong so just go with the flow

Most kids get along well with grazing. Having a planned meal is nice, but when he is hungry/picky feed him.
