Heavy current = changes, sudden problems
son = closer relationship
other people = bystanders, support you don't get
cannot swim = helpless
death = departure, afraid of losing relationship
Basically, you are in a dream of insecurity. You want to protect your son everywhere you can. You projected some people too; however those support in real life you cannot really get and for some reason, you don't trust them. And you are helpless. They are just there. You reflect your worries in your dream about the security of your son. That is perfect normal as a mother. However, I suggest that you should let go a little bit. That insecure feeling will stay you in mind for a little
I could be wrong, but this is how I see from your dream

I think one of the prices of loving someone so deeply is the fear of losing them. This is something that is often a vague undefined shadowy feeling that is too awful to contemplate in our realm of consciousness so it comes out in dreams.You've got elements here of separation-you on the other side of the lake;sudden change-the current;unspeakable tragedy-your son's painful death and also a sacrifice of self to try and save someone you love. These are things we all fear and hope we never have to face in real life.If this turns into a recurrent dream you can't shake it might be worth finding a counselor who is knowledgeable about dreams to help you work through it . Good luck.

I had a dream my son died last night too! It is such a horrible experience, such a relief to wake up. My dream was that a grizzly bear attacked my 11 year old. I think these dreams are just a sign of a stressed out parent. The dream made me appreciate my son more, and realize how devastated I would be if anything happened to him.

I too have had dreams about bad things happening to my kids...With mine it almost always seems like it is when they are going through a stage where they are becoming more independant of me. In my rational, awake mind I love to see them exploring their independance but I think when I dream the truth comes out somewhat and I want to grab hold of them and beg them not to grow up soooo fast LOL... You mommies out there know what I mean :) Hope this is your only bad dream for a long time. They are horrible and somehow always seem to be the most "real".

The other day my husband and I got into an ugly argument. We had our daughter through IVF. I love her to death. He threatens to take her from me many times. Durring those times, I have those nightmares of her dying in my arms. Its a constant recurring scary dream. When I wake up with sweat all over me, I gently pick up my 17 month old, and hold her so dear. I am sure many of us have had dreams that seem to actually come true. Nightmares, too. I Just hold my daughter and immidiately do the sign of the cross and pray to God. We do not know what the future holds, but when we trust in God, we know everything will be allright. God bless you and your son.

It's normal to have dreams about awful things happening to the people you love. When my husband was in Iraq, I had dreams all the time about seeing him die.
It's just scary. Don't read too much into the dreams. It doesn't mean it's going to happen, or there's no hidden meaning in it. It was just a dream.

What a horrible dream!! I think our worst fears manifest themselves in our dreams. It's nothing to worry about. Although maybe you shouldn't let him swim in a lake anytime soon.

Awww, I am soooo sorry you had such a dream, I am a parent as well and often have horrible dreams as such as well...its just your subconscious playing tricks on your maternal instincts and its horrible...just do your very best to watch over your child at all possible times but don't be too overprotective...*hugs*
