I am a 41 yr old mother. I don't care what I went to my parents about they would fuss at me and tell me I caused the problem. It was a habit for my mother to call me a da*n bi*ch and a tramp. They would never believe me or acknowledge a problem. They felt that I was either lying or did not know what I was talking about. Even things that jepordized my safety. Now they call my names in front of small children, which she thinks is funny. She then denies saying it and tells me that my children don't know what they are talking about or they are lying. (They are 9 and 6 and well taught). When I tell her I don't like it she tells me there is something wrong with me and proceeds to tell me how I don't know what respect is. She also denies anything that I remember happening in the past. I really don't want my children feeling the helplessness that I felt when I lived with them. These are my parents and I have children that would like to know their grandparents. What do I do?

My baby is now 3 weeks old and my mum is staying with me to help take care of him. She wants to do everything herself, bathing, feeding and changing diapers. She even insists on sleeping with the baby at night. Its my first child and I know she is just being helpful, but I hardly have any chance to bond with my baby and this makes me feel miserable. She makes me feel that I am a useless mother especially when she says things like, "You have no idea how to do this, let me take over." And she will just take the baby away from me without giving me a chance to try. I am going back to school in Oct and I really wish to spend as much time as possible with my baby now.

If your child screams, hits or just does not listen should you be able to spank their butts?

I don't want to hear all of these arguments that "it's not the dog it's the owner" - I just think that we should protect our children - these are *animals* for God's sake!

seriously
i think parents just say no just to piss ther children off for fun
i mean i understand if they say no to jumping off a building or playing with scissors and STUFF like that
but saying NO to sleeping over a friends house that u knew for like 6 years or getting a belly ring? thers nothing bad about getting a belly ring!..*sorry im kinda pissed off right now*
but yea i seriously think parents just say NO just to piss us off and for the fun of it.......ANDD did u know when parents say NO to children who want to get ther belly peirced it just urks the children to do it themselves and then they do it and then get a bad infection and can possibly die? and it would be kinda the parent(s) fault...

My older brother just moved out not that long ago, and I really miss him. Although, even before he moved out, we weren't really that close. But we were really close when I was little. So now I barely talk to him. Now I keep having these dreams that he's dead, and I cry in my dreams, and wake up crying about it. And to make it worse, sometimes during the day, when he is not here, I start to think he really is dead and feel empty inside and in shock. But then I realize he's alive and just not here. Please, help me, why is this happening?!?!

My 5 yr. old daughter was dying to go to Disney World. SO I booked us a 5 day vacation last April. We planned it together and she so wanted to go to the princess breakfast and meet Ariel. The second day there, she started vomitting and had severe diarreah. I thought it was food poisoning but it lasted very long. She was weak and sleeping most of the time and just downright miserable. Never had I seen her so sick. Nonetheless, she had to cancel the princess breakfast and she barely saw anything. It was miserable. When we returned home to see the dr., they said that she had contracted the rotovirus. She keeps asking me why she got so sick and never went to the breakfast. i try and explain it she just thinks she was punished in some way. Should I break down and take her by myself in the fall? Yes, it is expensive (coming from NY). WHat would you do? Please be kind in your answers. I just feel terrible for her.

Mrs. Dugger just had her 17th child and is looking forward to having more.

I personally think she is sainted woman for having all those children and if she wants to have more. I think that is great.

All the children are home schooled, All the children help out with their brothers and sister. I think the father did or does something in real estate. I know he did something in congress, like he was a congressman at one time.

they all helped built the house they are living in. I also think they paid cash for it too.

All the children have the first name that starts with a J.

I think this is a wonderful family and the more the better.

I have always been really regular on my cycle. I now am one week late and have taken 3 tests. I tested one day early the 1st time, and took the 2nd the day I was due to start. The 3rd was two days after the second test. Did I test too early? I already have a daughter, and I waited awhile to test while pregnant with her (I was in denial), so I don't know.
I've been having nausea, clear discharge (eww, I know), fatigue, stomach/abdominal pains (which I had with my daughter, which was b/c of my gallbladder) and what feels like menstral cramps. I get dizzy also, epesically in the car. All of the symptoms I had with my daughter(except the discharge), so I don't know what is going on:) We have been trying for another one, so I would be thrilled, as its really hard for me to concieve (I have a bicornuate uterus- my uterus is shaped like a heart and can cause problems. It resulted in my daughter being breach). Thanks ahead of time, and am awaiting answers before I waste more money on a test.

Why the hell are you in the parenting/pregnancy section of yahoo answers????
I'm serious. I come here because i have 3 very adorable little girls and it's so nice to connect with other parent's who understand my situations and can help. But if all you have is negativity and hatred towards kids or never want them, just curious as to why you come here?

Why are there such young kids getting on here asking questions that are so 'adult'? What happened to being a kid? Parents - get your heads out of you a**es and pay attention to what your children are doing. I don't let my kids touch the computer unless it's school related. I grew up without it, so can they.

I give about a half tbsp. of peppermint schnappes to my 6 month old daughter to relax her and ease the pain of cutting teeth. my mother did this and I turned out ok but I've been surprised at the number of people who seem to be appaled by this. It's not like slamming shots or anything just a few drops.

Often when this debate comes up, the people who oppose corporal punishment for children are usually assumed to be childless folks who just happened to get ahold of a few child psychology books. In my life, I have heard a few parents (one even had grown kids) say that they did not see spankings and whatnot as necessary forms of punishment. So, I was just wondering if there were any parents here that opposed it, and what the reasoning was. Thanks.

I have been ignoring my parents ever since summer started. Since they are getting on my nerves I just wanna go out and hang with my friends since Junior year is coming up I know i'll be busy with school work and all so im trying to make this a good memorable summer. So whenever I see my mom or dad I just turn the other way or whenever they talk to me I just tune them out. But whenever I do that.. they TALK MORE AND MORE. Don't they get it that im trying to ignore them and that I don't want anything to do with them. How do i get them off my back so that I can have more freedom. I think i will go get my permit after this *sigh* drive out of this place.
