Definitely, but I don't think it'll happen. In Australian schools, not only are toy guns banned, but anything made into a gun (Lego, etc) is confiscated. Unfortunately, our shops still sell toy guns, and many parents seem to feel that playing with pretend versions of deadly weapons is a normal childhood thing. My son (7) is allowed water-pistols, but he makes his Lego into magic wands, conductor's batons, aliens and dinosaurs.
Toy guns lead to real guns. America has the highest rate of gun-related injuries and deaths in the world. Pre-emptive arming doesn't work - the more guns the good guys have, the more are available to fall into the bad guys' hands. And the self-defence argument doesn't work - armed people are more likely to be shot than unarmed ones, because the bad guys will do it first. Even the police sometimes shoot armed civilians that turn out to be good guys.

No. Boys will naturally make ANYTHING into a gun - a stick, a banana, or a piece of bread bit into the shape of a gun.
Taking toy guns off of the market isn't going to stop this.

Not necessarily. Toy guns don't kill people. The only thing I think should happen is that the parents should teach their kids that it is a toy gun, and it's not okay to shoot people or things with real guns. Except for self defense of course. They (or someone else) could get hurt.
Otherwise, let them have fun playing and being a kid.

I don't see any reason to take them off the market, My stepson 5 and my newphews all love them, The all also know that you are never, not even with a toy gun that doesnt shoot bulllets to a water gun ever aim it a some ones head, Water guns are an acception at our house, THey can shoot freely with them, But it they shoot those lil darts or what not, they aren't allowed to be aimed at others, expecially the head...They have tagets for that, Recently my 5 yo got to shoot a real gun, he is about to start hunting with his dad and uncles, well he hit the targeet dead on...HE practices with a bb gun and his "dart guns" <~~~the darts are sticky darts.....All the real guns get locked up. and they have safty on....he knows what a real gun is, and why he cant use it, unless with an adult..that is qualified,,,,he has pictures of who its ok to do the shooting with....So that no one, not even his older cousins can say,,,well, come on, im an adult....So if they arent on the ring, or have key they cant use the guns..

Not me. I had toy guns, my husband had toy guns. Good parenting goes a lot farther than just banning toy guns.
I think people who are irresponsible and uneducated with guns are the reasons people are so anti-gun. My son has a couple of toy guns. He knows he's not to point it at people or animals (it's completely a toy and doesn't shoot anything) and he just pretends to shoot at the targets my husband has around. When he's older my husband will teach him about hunting and probably take him along. My cousins were avid hunters by the time they were 5 and at the age of 9 one of them brought down a 5 point buck. Both of them played with toy guns and both of them respect gun safety.
My husband and I both have guns, as did both of our parents and grandparents. We were raised to know responsibility and respect for the weapons. We're teaching our son the same thing.
Our guns are used mainly for target practice and hunting (my husband). I don't consider then actual protection for the house or my well being. The guns are in locked cases in a gun safe and the bullets are locked in another safe in another part of the house. So if anyone did break in, I wouldn't have time to unlock all that and load it, LOL.
I see nothing wrong with a child playing with a toy gun as long as the parent is responsible with it and teaches the child responsibility.

I don't. I started out saying that I would never get any toy guns or any weapons for my boys. Totally stupid, as they just turned anything - sticks, other toys, food, their own hands... into toy guns!
Toy guns don't cause the problem - people do!

I don't, everyone I know grew up playing with them and none of us go on shooting rampages. They are just toys and as long as children are taught the difference between a toy and the real thing it is fine. Also all real guns should be locked up to prevent confusion, that is how most children get shot.

No, I don't think they should. In fact, some psychologists are now saying it can be even more harmful to deny boys "violent" toys. Young boys use dramatic play to work out their feelings of anger and powerlessness, and generally do this by pretending to be fierce warriors or evil kings (or Darth Vader maybe?) Although it may be a bit disturbing, especially to us mothers, it is completely normal and healthy. The best thing you can really do to raise your kids to be well adjusted and happy, is just leave them alone and let them PLAY!

Not me. I used to have toy guns all the time. Let kids be kids. What harm is a toy gun going to do? Only a REAL gun could do harm, and it is the parents fault if you let your kids in reach of a gun.

of course not, little boys will make a gun out of anything. they should be taught gun safety at an early age. it's not the object that does harm, it's the person. we're being sold a bill of goods to take guns, because they are afraid of you if you are armed. sad part is a lot of fools believe them. WAKE UP.
