Parents, let's say that your oldest son had come from an abusive background. Would you still be willing to adopt him, why or why not? (Note: Lets say he HAD been your son but you didnt know about the background)

i am having really hard time potty taining my daughter. she was a bit slow on her talking, so as a result a bit behind on when we started potty training her, as she couldnt understand what we would say to her. she is now nearly 3, and no closer to what she was when we first started training her. we let her run around the house without a nappy on, with the hope that if she does go to the toilet, she will notice, and then realise that when she goes she needs to be on the potty. we have tried asking her reg if she needs to go, she always says no! and keeping her in the nappy and when we change her sitting her on the potty for a while after. we have never told her off for making a mess, and we reward her if shew does well. but we are still not getting any result. any ideas? i feel really guilty she is still in nappies at her age, but nothink seems to be working or having any effect. another problem is that the really likes her nappies! when she doesnt have one on, she asks!!! any ideas??

I have four kids three boys 7, 4, 18 months, and one girl 18 months. The twins are still toddlers, they don't really get in a lot of trouble. I mean RJ hits his sister sometimes, and gets in trouble for that, but other than that, they're angels. It's the older two that I'm having huge problems with! They simply refuse to mind me at all! My biggest problem is trying to get them to help me around the house. If I could just get them to pick up after themselves it'd be a big help. I've tried everything I can think of and nothing it working! I've tried a chore chart, with a reward at the end of the week. I've tried grounding them, although I'm not entirely sure you can ground a 4 year old. I hate to spank them. I reserve spankings for serious wrong doings, things that could be harmful to them or somebody else. I'm just out of ideas here! My mom says they're "out of control" and I need to get a grip on them before they're teenagers. I know she's right, but how do I get them to mind me? HELP!

This is getting out of hand. When I go to Walmart or even the grocery store I see parents that have their 8 to 10 year olds sitting down in shopping carts. What kind of stupid parent does this? Who is in charge? The kid or the parent? Let me hear from some parents that do this. I would like to know what you have to say. Don't you realize how that looks?

serial adulterer? I always thought I should protect them from that information - you know, take the high road. I read something recently that said you should tell them when they ask and they asked. My instincts say don't tell them yet. They are 13 and 16 both girls.

My 12 yr old daughter has struggled with anxiety for years now, but lately it seems to consume her - she has been in & out of therapy for years - they were trying to teach her behavior modification such as breathing exercizes & meditation to deal with her anxiety, but it just doesn't seem to help - i would love to see her get thru a day without worry - has anyone tried meds & had success & if so, which meds?

If I leave the house she is with me,even if will make it easier on me to leave her with him. I know he wont harm her but the stories I hear about a child left with the boyfriend and the child is hurt or killed. The latest story i heard was about a 10mth old being put in a freezer because the boyfriend didnt know what to do for a high temp. I'm I being overly protective? Should I let him know my concerns? I dont want him to feel uncomfortable or leave....Help!!

My 5 year old son is very sexual. He has always been very aware and proud of himself. In the past he has been cought under the bed showing himself to another little boy, playing touchy feely with a little girl in the closet and here recently his principal called me because he and a little girl at school were taking their pants down in the library. How can i teach him that it isn't ok to act like this?

My boyfriend and I are planning on getting married. He has a 9 yr old son. He wants to have more children. I can't have kids and I have been wanting to adopt. But he says, no, he doesn't want to take care of someone else's kid that isn't his.I've brought up the fact that I take care of HIS child and he isn't mine (I treat him as if he were my own) But I want a child of my own even if he is adopted. My soon to be stepson will always think of his mom as his world. This may seem a little selfish but I'm tired of competing with his mom. I want to be the one and only mom in a child's life. I don't want to leave my soon to be husband. I don't know what to do, can you help me? Can I be satisfied with always being second best?

Everyone's always blaming the government and advertising, but if parents just fed their kids healthy food from when they were little there'd be less of a problem. They don't know what's good for them so they need to be taught it, and yes, before they even go to school because they still understand things. It might be hard when you've got a kid screaming that it wants something but eventually they'll get used to it, and what's more important? giving them what they want right now? or making sure they have what's best for them long term? because when they grow up I'm sure they'll regret being allowed to eat whatever they wanted.

It has been my experience that if you are a housewife, you are considered stupid, lazy, and inferior to those who are so-called career women. I've even had women make remarks to me like "Oh, you just stay at home", or "How can you do that". People don't realize that housewives/mothers don't have it all that great, they never get holidays, don't get paid, their work-day is never done, have no financial security for the future, etc. I think people still have the misconception that housewives lay around on the couch all day and eat bonbons and watch trash TV. That makes me mad!!!
