It is never acceptable to hit a child, a child is the vulnerable party here, totally depending on an adult to care for and nurture them. Most parents who hit there children , do so out of frustration, like a knee/jerk reaction so really all you are teaching a child is "I am bigger and stronger and have the power to cause you physical pain for something I don't like/want you to do or have done.
Finally we are starting to see the light on this issue and calling a spade a spade, lets call it what is is ABUSE!

I would say because adults tend to break things when they hit those they have no love for. Adults are old enough to exercise free will, and you are not their mama, so neener neener, you're not the boss of me.... Freedom of speech includes volume,so the right to bear arms really means go ahead, punch his lights out :) The real reason that adults get away with punching kids is because those kids are afraid to tell because they are probably foster kids who don't want to be moved to another home or are afraid of retaliation if they tell. It doesn't make it right, but it is so. Adults on the other hand, are abig bunch of sissies that run and tell the mommy cops everytime they get a well deserved whack in the face, on the butt, you know...can't even spit on those who deserve it or you get charged with assault.

It's because an adult is a grown up and has rights pertaining to his or her body beyond those of a child.
You could be sued for assualt for grabbing an adult by the arm to prevent them from crossing the street in front of a car, but you usually aren't and no one in their right mind would say it was child abuse to grab your childs arm and keep them out of the street.
You also should not be swatting a childs behind as an indication of some sort of sexual interest, but a swat on an adult's behind (over 18) usually is done in a manner that indicates such.

Nice Try
Hitting NO
Spanking Yes
You said it yourself, a adult is a adult. A child is a child
Once a child starts acting like a adult, and not a child they need not worry about a spanking. Sometimes a spanking is the only way children learn. Adults understand reason, children don't.
Once a child understands reason, theirs no need for spanking.

I was raised with spanking. It should be the last method of discipline (Like the death penalty of child raising) but it is affective. Young children lack the ability to reason like adults, and if you want to emphasis something important lesson (like stealing is wrong) I think it is acceptable. And its still better than no discipline which seems to be popular today.

Adults can hit kids legally because our legal system is totally screwed up. If an adult hits another adult he can be charged with assault. No one should ever hit anyone. If anything it is more wrong for an adult to hit a child than an adult to hit another adult.

Disiplining your child and child abuse are 2 different things. Yes, it is illeagal to hit your child in a manner that would physically harm them, but not a smack on their behind (like every1 has been inferring to).... Spanking children has been a form of disipline since time began. But when it comes to an adult..... how could youjustify disiplining them?

this is perplexing to tell a newborn that in view which you do no longer understand what you unharness. i think of you will desire to show the newborn to think of issues out and reason. in the event that they newborn is genuine frightened of being harmed then i might tell them to run yet combat decrease back in the event that they have been chased or attacked. it particularly is a annoying call in view which you do no longer want a newborn that is going around with a chip on their shoulder; this makes for super difficulty while they become older. they'd desire to study the thank you to rationalize thinking tactics.

Adults CANNOT hit kids because it is child abuse, if a adult ever hits a child that child can call 696 kids or something like that or have a elder or someone else do it.

I don't know where you live, but we're not allowed to hit our kids at all.
My cousin lives in England, and she swatted her little boy on the backside while in a shopping centre. Someone reported her, and her three boys have been taken away from her.
Funny how your kids can be taken away for one little smack, while you can rape or kill someone and get a smack on the wrist.
