don't give him any potatoes or meat until he eats the vegetables. If he is really hungry, he eats it. When he comes to the table, just put veggies in frontt of him and when he finishes them, give him the rest of the food.

Most 8 year olds don't care for vegetables. Just make sure they eat some fruit and give them a multi-vitamin. I hated broccoli when I was a kid, but your tastes change as you grow and now I love it. This is just becoming a power struggle. You have to pick your battles. I do think you are right to take away dessert, but if he doesn't like vegetables then forcing him to eat them isn't going to do anything but make him resent you.

We go through the same thing with my 2 year old and my 6 year old. I figure eventually it will all even out. I never ate many veggies as a kid. Try not to worry too much. We give both kids a multivitamin and they are told they have to take at least "one thankful bite" of everything on their plate.

First off make sure he's getting some type of vitamin for kids, like the Flinstons Vitamin (my fav as a kid) It might be a phase he's going through, alot of younger kids do this. Try doing something knew, introduce new veggies, or try making them different. Pair them off with his fav foods or making some type of meal that has chichen and veggis combined.

What worked for my kids was brushing it off by saying, "some day you'll like salads or (fill in the blank)." Guess what? They are 13 and 16 and eat veggies and salad and will try almost anything. In the mean time, don't worry and fret about it. He or she is healthy.

I actual have a 5-year-previous who would not like sandwiches, the two. This year for kindergarten, I packed some particularly some issues for her. i might put in a small field of peanut butter with crackers and he or she'd dip the crackers into the peanut butter for her lunch. Yogurt and string cheese mutually is a robust "significant dish." My daughter eats that alongside with a bite of fruit lots. My daughter will additionally take a slice of cheese with yogurt for her "significant dish." She additionally enjoys leftover hen cutlets decrease up. She eats them chilly and that i supply her a small packet of ketchup (from a take-out place, I only shop them) to consume with it. My daughter will additionally consume a slice of turkey along with her cheese and fruit. All of those mixtures are stable options! i desire this facilitates!

My 8 yr old eats all veggie raw, or steamed and cooled to room temp. He wouldn't eat veggies at all until he tried them that way...He loves carrots and broccoli(we call 'em tree's) in ranch. I also called peas and cucumbers "Power Food" Now he'll wrestle you for 'em! Be creative and patient...but more importantly be stubborn!

ok, so the secret is to hide the vegetables. not to force them down!

Here is what my mother used to do, and now I do the same thing.

make a soup,
put a butternut squash, pealed, cleaned, and cut into large chuncks.
put carrots, zucchini, one/two potatoes, sweet potato if you want, cellery (take out before blending!-so no strings)
put a lot of nutritious things in there.
add salt, pepper, (parsley-optional)
boil it.

when the vegetables are ready...
take a hand blender and blend it.
it comes out so creamy!

Now-when you serve it - call it "the orange soup." That way your kids don't know what's in there!

when they eat the hidden things - they woun't need to be forced into anything anymore!

its a battle of wills my friend.

tell your child you not are leaving this table untill they are gone, period! and then dont give in, even if it takes an hour, you dont have to be thier just dont let them out the dinning room till their gone.

dont just take way dessert, say theirs no dessert untill you eat the vegetables, no veg, no dessert, ever.

your kids testing you, the fact he/she used to eat veg shows that, dont give in, not even once, at most if its been a couple of hours, tell him/her to eat a few mouth full of veg, like if their are 2 carrots, eat just 1.

try also giving your kid smaller amounts of veg. and in the mean time, give some vitimeans tables to cover the loss, but dont get into the habbit of useing them instead, theirs no substatute for the real thing.

with me my parents used to force feed me if i didnt, it worked, they only had to do it twice, i am not recomending it, i find it hard to ever imagen myself doing it but if your comfortable with it why not, i personaly never had any problems with getting my kids to eat

I also tell him santas watching and if he dont eat some of his veggies he wont get a present. seems to work for me. I dont make him eat them all i tell him to atleast eat like 5 green beans and he can get down. try compromising make it a game with him i know he's 8 but it might work.
