Personally I feel you should teach them as soon as they start asking questions. I have never lied to my kids about sex. I know some parents that tell their kids babies come from the stork God, but my opinion is honesty is best. I am just looking for other parents experiences.

How old should your child be before heavy discipline?

For example, my daughter is only 9 months old however, she likes to kick and wiggle a lot while crying if she doesn't get her way. Saying NO doesn't cut it anymore. What should I do?

People keep saying that a marriage is the best social invention we have come up with because it is best to provide an environment conducive to raising children and thus is invaluble as far as keeping together our moral fiber as a people. But far as I can tell even if straight parents were better than homosexual ones, its better for a child to have two moms or two dads than to be a ward of the state. What prooves that I'm wrong?

I have a home day care and today one of the moms came to get her 1 year old and the baby wanted to stay with me instead of going to her mom. She actually cried and reached out for me when her mom picked her up! This child has been with me since she was 3 months old and spends about 45 hours a week with me. The mom seemed cool about it, but I know it had to hurt her feelings, and I was wondering how you would feel if your child did this to you. My son never did this when he was in day care so I'm curious.

Our friend’s daughter is dying of a bring tumor. She is nearing the end, she’s in a lot of pain, and she is likely to die within the next couple of weeks. I would really appreciate some thoughtful and/or creative ideas.

What is wrong?

I was born in 1979 and grew up in the 80's. No Cell Phones, No Call waiting, No Video Games, or Computers.

Parents were able to leave us home alone and very few house burnt down, guns were left under beds, door were unlocked.

You can't do that now, things are so different. What is going wrong and what can we do to fix it? What are something that you used to love to do that your children or Grandchildren will never do?

I try not to--but at times, after the 10th time of asking in a nice way...well,you know the story:( My children are 7(with special needs),11,12,and 15.Yesterday,my 11 and 12 year old sons were bickering and not minding me all day. Finally,I yelled--quite loudly--"Knock it off".We were in the backyard, and one of my lovely neighbors found the need to call the cops over it.Please--I wish she could walk in my shoes one damn day. She'd yell a hell of alot more than I do.

I'm a single mum, and I have to work full time to pay bills and such. I cant move away from my parents at the moment, and my mum looks after her in the week. Every time I do something my parents dont like, or ask them not to do something, I end up in a huge arguement, They take her off of me, and when she is hurt, they push me out of their way. Whenever I have treid to speak with them they go nuts and make me feel guilty because they know best. My little sister has decided that she is her mum, and not me, they just dont let me get in edgeways. I am at the end of my tether and realy dont know what to do. Any ideas?

I have found differing opinions, and some people really look down on mother's that do the daycare or nanny thing. I don't HAVE to work... but I have an excellent career and I have a promising future there.... however, I want to be a great mother, too! any suggestions?

I have been devorced for almost 5 yrs and i went threw a ugly devorce and he did some backwards stuff and took my rights as a mother. well i have observed over these years that he has had them that he has proven that he is unstable (no job they dont go to school (home school) they dont stay in one place to long) well i am very opposit of him i have been very stable and wish to get them back but i have a issue with cost. Child costudy issues are very costly and i cant afford to get 3000.00 for a retainer fee is their anything that i can do? I pay child support and live week to week... what are my options?
