Make him a blanket, go to the local michaels or fabric store and make him a small blanket to warm up while he is watching his favorite show or even a pillow that he can prop his feet up on. Taking large glass bowls and painting them with glass paint and filling it up with his favorite snacks, popcorn, peanuts, chocolate bars. The same can be done with beer glasses or mugs, decorating a tackle box and filling it with different types of gummy worms, gummy fish ... Birdhouses are easy to make and you can find many ways to start on the web, as well as windchimes... things that he can remember came straight from the heart... My husband personally would take a card and asked to be left alone... which is fine.. it makes him happy. Good Luck

How about making a special meal of his favorite foods or a dessert. I've made a special cheesecake for Valentine's Day, and often make his favorite (simple) meal when he's had a rough day. It doesn't take diamonds to make a lot of men happy...and simple things can mean the most. I baked my guy his special "Grandma's Cookie" recipe for Father's Day and he was ecstatic! He has a sweet tooth and really appreciates my efforts. If food isn't your forte', I've seen really neat things done with scrap-booking materials. You could matt a picture of him, you, or someone special in your life. You could create a collage or shadowbox of sports or hobby favorites. You could just make a personal card with your thoughts in it. Then there's the IOU for a car detailing, lawn mowing, or some other task that he normally might do and would free up some "me time" for him. That's always appreciated, and the car (or truck) looks nice for awhile as a reminder of your thoughtfulness. Or, you could rent a copy of his favorite movie or show and watch it with him. Spending time together is the best gift you could give most dads. Enjoy him while you can. I'm personally quite frustrated with the commercialism and pressures put on us about these holidays. It's just another day, for cripe sake! Don't drive yourself crazy worrying about this. I'm sure that he won't hold it against you. I hope this helps

My suggetion would be be make him a nice fathers day breakfast or lunch, Im sure that there is food around the house that you can make him a nice meal!! Then make hima nice card that someone suggested, tell him how much you love him but you didne have money buy his gift so you prepared him this meal.
My children were fortunate to be able to buy there father something for fathers day, but they have also decided to make him breakfast in bed!! That is something that they came up with themselve and there father will love it becasue it came from there hearts!!!

We have much the same problem. My husbands favorite father's day gift so far was a t-shirt I made with the children. We purchased a cheap, plain, white t-shirt and some fabric paint. Then I put the children's hand prints all over the front and back. Then added the words "My daddy's the best" on the front and "hands down" on the back. This year we are doing another with their foot prints saying "We walk all over our daddy."

I did this last year and he loved it. I went to target, bought an inexpensive towel for $4 (his fav color) went to an enbroidery place, and had his initials put on, (about $2) Or try a small album with photos of you and him, pick some from your baby years till now.

How about cleaning his house? Father's do not need you to spend money on them to let them know you care. Just be creative and make sure that what ever you give him is from the heart and that you really mean it.

Just make him a batch of cookies--it's not too hard, shouldn't cost alot of money, and I think it's alot more personal then something you buy for him.

you could make a video or CD talking about fun times and how much he means to you. you could make a photo album of you and your dad from childhood 'till now.
