I had my daughter on Tuesday and because she was having problems nursing in the hospital they made me give her a bottle. We are home now and my milk is in and she is nursing great. My problem is after she nurses she still wants a bottle. How can I breeak her of this? It doesn't matter how long she nurses she still takes about 1 oz of formula when finished or cries until I give it to her. The last feeding was 30 min on each side and she's sucking good and appears to be getting plenty of my milk but still wanted a bottle...

If she & my son are otherwise healthy, is it safe for my wife to breastfeed? It's been over 24 hours, our son is miserable, my wife feels horrible, and we're not getting any return phone calls from oral surgeon, lactation consultants, or pediatrician.

Please do not confirm it is safe if you are not sure.

My 10 month old son just started sleeping in his crib and falling alseep by himself at night. Up unitl a week ago he took his naps in his swing. But when I put him in his crib for a nap he plays for a hour before he finally falls asleep. The problem with this is he takes a 3 hour nap twice a day, so that means he is in his crib 8 hours a day, not even counting bedtime. I was taking him out of the crib thinking he wasn't tired enough but he starts whinning and rubbing his eyes, and looks exsahusted. Do I continue putting him in his crib since he is happy to play that extra hour before he falls asleep or is that too much time in there. If I put him in the swing he goes to sleep within minutes, so I know he is tired . Any advice?

i hear this all the time associated with the cry it out method...do you really think crying in excess is good for the lungs....i rmember it being painful crying untill you choke...i remember my lungs aching so badly...how is a baby crying untill his lips are blue good?.....do you believe this to be true or just an a old wives tale that helped people cope with alowing their infants to scream???

he is 14 month old and we still have to sing/carry him to sleep everytime, twice during the day, one time for the night.

he still sleeps in our bed, during the night,
during the day he sleeps here in the livingroom on the couch.

i just want some tips, have no time to read a book, and is it possible, that he will learn to fall asleep by himself.

thanks again

sleeps in parents bed?

we don't really mind that, i think it's cute when he cuddles and i feel save knowing he is next to me, and not in another room..., where i don't here everything.
do you think it will harm him in the way, that he will be spoiled or a mamas boy when he sleeps couple more month with us. i still think he is a baby who needs to be close to me.

we dont' want him to be spoiled...

thanks

My little girl was looking at her reflection in the head board of my bed and she lost her balance and leaned forward and bumped her little noggin. My daughter just started crawling and she loses her balance sometimes. She cried for a little bit. I kissed her forehead and told her that it will be okay and she smiled. She now has a little red circle where she bumped her head and its a little puffy. Is it ok to give her Infant Motrin to help with the swelling and soreness?

I have read many sleep books by "sleep trainers" or other "experts" and most of them suggest either crying it out or modified crying it out. Almost all of them instruct you not to pick your child up when they wake during the night if you are doing sleep training. Do these experts not know that babies can't burp themselves?? My 15 month old still wakes crying with burps in the night that he can't get out without help. He can now burp on his own, but I guess he's too tired? when he's sound asleep. Anyway, I just don't understand why the experts ignore this is their sleep training methods. If I had ever let my babies cry it out during they night, they would have spent many nights miserable needing to be burped. It makes me angry that experts ignore this.....especially in very young babies that have not learned how to burp on their own yet.

I'm so deprived of sleep it is unreal. My soon to be 6 week old baby will not sleep at night. I've tried bathing her, rocking her, comfort music etc... nothing seems to work. I can see that she's tired because it shows in her facial expression and she wants to go to sleep, but when she feels her eyes clsoing she talks herself otu of it. Sometimes she sqirms a lot when I'm nursing her and I give her gas drops or try and burp her but nothing seems to work. I thought the situation was solved a couple weeks ago because she was actually falling alseep at night, but then it went right back. It's like she'll sleep and wake up to be fed around 11 or 12 and won't go back to sleep till 5 in the morning. I will be going back to work in a couple weeks and I need to solve this issue soon or else I'm going to collapse. I try not to get frustrated, but it's hard not to b/c I don't have a partner living in the house with me. I pump milk, but she will still want the breast. Please someone help.

I just want to see if this is normal. During the day he drinks 5oz of formula but at night he drinks only 4 because he's famous for falling asleep during feedings. Also his cord stump hasn't fallen off yet, but it's not infected or anything, and we clean it wil alcohol every day. Should I be concerned? Thanks

I'm 6 months pregnant now, but I am going ahead and making a lot of plans early..

I am planning on puttin the crib in my room for the first few months or so....and I don't think there is anything wrong with that. But, a lot of people are disagreeing with me and saying that no the baby shouldn't sleep in the bedroom with me.

So am I wrong in wanting her to stay in there with me?
