Six weeks old?
Hell, my 15-month old still wakes every 2 hours to eat at night.
Don't expect your baby to sleep through the night until about two years of age. While some babies do it, it is far from the norm and it is not healthy. Babies who "sleep through the night" before six months of age are at increased risk for SIDS.
It is dangerous and reckless to give a baby cereal through a bottle, and recent medical studies have proven that it does not help a baby to sleep through the night. Instead it promotes diabetes and obesity later in life. And thus begins the challenge of parenthood -- what's more important to you, your baby's health and well-being or your comfort?
As for the cord stump, does it look like it's anywhere close to falling off? Do you gently wiggle it a little when cleaning? Perhaps you should let the doctor check this one out. It probably just needs a little bit of a nudge but personally I would be nervous about messing with it too much.

It is normal. He is still too young to sleep through the night. That will happen after a month or two at least. As for the cord, it will fall eventually. have you seen any adult with a cord? Don't hurry, things will happen at their own time, and it will be sooner than you expect when your baby will be grown up and you'll miss the time he was your baby.
Also don't feed anything but milk at this age and talk to your doctor about everything!

Yes this is normal dont worry my soon is 4 months old and did this too. His cord stump sholud have fallen off a long time ago, I dont think it's serious but you might want to call the dr, about that one. My son'd fell off 3 days after he came home and my nephews a week after so 6 weeks seems like a long time.

No it's normal for him to wake up every two hours.
Not sure about the cord stump though. I think when it's ready to come off it will - as long as it's not infected, which you said it's not - you should be fine.

Everything sounds normal. 6 weeks is a little long for the cord to fall off, but it is not so long that it is abnormal...just a little longer than average. Congrats on the new baby!

my 4week old drinks about 5oz and wants to feed every two hours also, the doctor told me that i shouldn't feed him and wait every three/four hours. but that's impossible! he screams and cries until he is fed. last night, i tried a teaspoon of baby cereal in his formula (they say not to give it to them until 4months, but i know a lot of people that have done it) he loved it, and i wound up only waking up once last night. only the formula might not be doing it for him.
so if you want to try that, it saved me another sleepless night!

Man you must be tired, i know not a lot of people will agree, i did it and it works sooooo well, not promising anything as babys are diffrent. I gave my kids rice porridge at 4 weeks of age, it must me soft and not heavy as there digistive system arent that strong.. Both my kids slept from 7 in the evening till 6 the next morning.
