Their digestive system is not ready to tolerate anything until at least the end of their fourth month.
Don't listen to the people telling you to do this it's bad advice.
The baby will eventually get a sleeping schedule on it's own.
It will be hard I know, my son is nearly 7 months and still wakes at night,.
It's the joys of parenthood.[Hmm]

No. You should not start cereals until around 3 months. Food allergies are more likely to occur if you start foods too early and his tummy is not ready for that yet.

Its quite normal for your baby to be up at all hours of the night. Most babies do not sleep through the night til 4+ months and even then its not a sure thing. The best thing you can do is establish a bedtime routine and stick to it. Eventually the babies internal clock will go along with that.

Also wanted to add: Many doctors recommend only feeding foods with utensils. Bottles are only for liquids.

I think the people you are talking to are uneducated and you should do your own research before risking your baby's health.

First of all, you should never put cereal in a bottle. It is a choking hazard and it has been proven that it can lead to obesity later in life.

Secondly, babies should get nothing other than breastmilk (or failing that, formula) until six months of age. Starting solids too early can lead to diabetes and obesity, as well as an increase in allergies. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends starting solids AFTER six months of age (this is a new recommendation since they used to recommend 4-6 months). Solids DOES include cereal in a bottle, by the way. This recommendation is based on research regarding the development of infant digestive tracts and their ability to digest solid foods.

Thirdly, there is no evidence that giving solids will help your baby sleep through the night, and in fact recent medical research has proven otherwise. This is an old wives' tale. Also, children who sleep "through the night" before six months of age are at increased risk of SIDS. Babies were MEANT to wake up at night for feedings. Their stomachs are tiny!

Do you really want to risk your baby's health for an old wives' tale?

Don't do it. The baby will start sleeping through the night soon, both of mine did soon after 1 month. Introducing cereal or foods this early could spark allergies. And at this stage all the nutrition the baby needs is breastmilk or formula. They are also growing so much at this time they need the night time feedings.

People think that feeing your baby more substantial foods will help him sleep more, however, your baby is not ready for that food. Breast milk or formula is all he needs. If you are having such a hard time that you can't handle being woken up to feed your baby when he's hungry, then pump some milk and get your husband to do a feeding.

There are nights when I want my daughter to just sleep, but I would not want her to be uncomfortable, sick, or in pain because I wanted to sleep a little more and fed her things that she's not ready for. 6 months is when you can start feeding solids. until then do what's best for your baby.

And remember, it's YOUR baby. You make the decisions and you live with the decisions that you make.

You should never put cereal in a baby's bottle. It is a choking hazard.

Babies need only breastmilk or formula for at least 6 months. Wait until your baby is 6 months old and meets all of these milestones:
* Baby can sit up well without support.
* Baby has lost the tongue-thrust reflex and does not automatically push solids out of his mouth with his tongue.
* Baby is ready and willing to chew.
* Baby is developing a “pincer” grasp, where he picks up food or other objects between thumb and forefinger. Using the fingers and scraping the food into the palm of the hand (palmar grasp) does not substitute for pincer grasp development.
* Baby is eager to participate in mealtime and may try to grab food and put it in his mouth.

Then you can start him on cereal or other solids. Starting before 6 months can lead to digestive problems, food allergies and obesity.

At 22 days, it's too early. Maybe at 2-3 months.

I tried that with my daughter and it did not help her sleep any better at all. Plus its not really good to feed them through a bottle. My daughter would gag so I wouldnt try it.
