If I understand your question correctly, you are asking when do you have to stop warming the baby's bottle.
I used breast milk fresh, froze it and refrigerated it. After about 4 months old I stopped warming the bottle as much. If I took it out of the fridge, I let it sit out for a few minutes to warm, and then gave it to her. Soon after that I gave it to her straight out of the fridge. With some of the women who watched my girl, I had to remind them they didn't have to heat the bottle. There was one boy in her room that wouldn't drink his milk unless it was ice cold.
A few months ago I stopped pumping and switched her to formula. The same thing holds true with the formula. When I fill the bottle I make sure I have it on cold water, then add the mix.
When she turns 1 I will switch her to regular milk. Again, it will be cold.
Making the milk cold does not take away any of the nutrients. For some children they prefer it a certain temperature.
I hope I understood your question correctly.

I started giving my first son cold milk when he was about a year old. I found he would leave it until it had got to room temperature, and so I started warming it again (I still do, for both children, aged 3 and 5).

After about a year I would go by the child's own preference. As a child I had to have milk cold, but my kids can't drink it cold at all, even though they prefer cold food.

Given the amount of milk a child drinks, and consequently the time it takes for it to warm up in the stomach, I would guess that it's slightly easier to digest warm milk.

When Can Babies Drink Milk

2016-10-03 03:24:12 · answer #3 · answered by ? 4 · 0 0

My son drinks cold formula on occasion and has for about a month. He's 9 months old. I don't think it's bad for infants to drink cold formula any time, but my son threw up after a cold bottle when he was about 7 weeks. If your baby reacts badly, wait about a month, and try again. All baby's are different, so it will be hard for anyone to give you a strict answer for this. If you're really concerned, just call your pediatrician. The nurse can answer your question, and it's free.

Babies like warm milk because that is what is soothing and most natural. Remember that infants are tiny and their bodies would probably find cold liquids a shock to their system. I don't think that there is a time frame, but even room temp. is more soothing than cold. I take it that your talking about formula. Babies need the calories and added nutrients found in formula for at least the first year.

Whenever they're willing to. My daughter had no trouble with cold milk from when she first started cow's milk at 1 year. Her baby brother is 14 months and will drink it sometimes but still likes it warm.

It's not really any healthier one way or the other, most people just think it tastes better cold.

You can start giving them milk at 1 year. If they'll drink it cold, fine. Some babies won't at first because they just aren't used to it. I don't know if it's healthier unless you take into consideration that it will last longer in the cup before going bad.
