I started my kids on whole milk at 12 months. I believe that's what pediatricians recommend. But you can start her on sippy cups with juice and water and formula if you want.

sounds like a perfect time to introduce it, although she may not take to it right away. My son just thought it was a toy for a couple months and around 8 1/2 months he finally figured it out. We've been giving him juice since 6 months so that's what I put in the bottle (preferably a clear juice so it doesn't make a mess), the sippy cups with the handles are supposed to be the easiest but my son couldn't figure out how to work those so he'd just hold the handle and bang it around. We switched to a narrow cup style sippy cup, no handles, which worked for him because he could hold it like he holds his bottles. It may also help to take the leak valve off for awhile, it makes a big mess but it helps the baby to figure out that "hey, juice comes out of here, it's not just a toy", once they get the concept you can put the valve back on. It may also help to demonstrate how to use it and use a little reverse psychology, as soon as I start drinking out of the sippy cup and act like my son isn't allowed to have it, all of a sudden it's the best thing in the world and he'll fight me for it. My son won't drink formula out of it, but if you want to do that it's fine just make sure you make it in a seperate container first and then transfer it to the sippy cup or the powder will clump inside the spout and clog it.

i started giving my daughter a sippy cup at 7 months and my dr told me that since shell would be coming off formula in the next couple months to only put juice or water in the sippy cup and formula in the bottle so you can take away both at the same time. because they will associate the bottle with their formula . now he said regular milk would be ok but get them used to the difference first.

Absolutly, give her a sippy cup. The sooner she is comfortable with a sippy cup the sooner she will be off the bottle and the the better for her teeth. You can give her anything in a cup. But try not putting anything but her formula in her bottle. If u put juice and other sweet things in her bottle she has no reason to give up the bottle.

Yes, introduce a sippy but between 6-8 months so now is perfect. If you put something that tastes good--juice--she will be more likely to take it. However, she may start to expect only juice from a cup so offer many different things, formula, juice, water.

7 months is not too young for juice, and not too old for formula. Pediatricians reccommend whole milk at 12 months andnot prior due to the antibodies they are building from the formula/breat milk still. I began my daughter on a sippy around 7-8 months when she began eating with us at the table (crackers ands such) because she wanted our cups. I begin infants in childcare on sippys at that age as well. Make sure her first cup makes her suck still like a bottle-this will make the transition easier, and so she does not choke when a whole mouthful of fluid comes out. Then you can gradually switch cups to non-regulated and just let her drink as she wants to. It will take her a while to get used to the cup, so just make sure to give her time. Good luck!

You can offer a sippy cup but I would stick to water for awhile. They tend to spit it out what comes out of the cup. I also never give my son any juice. I understand with formula feeding you probably eventually want to get the formula coming from a sippy cup, but I don't really know when, I breastfeed.

Yes she's old enough. This is what worked for us: give her the cup empty let her play with it get used to the feel. Then when she starts trying to drink from it, put a little juice or formula in there. Once she gets better at it dump the bottle. Dentist and nutritionist suggest by 15 mo they're off the bottle. Some even sooner. Helps prevent tooth rot and other things. Good luck!!
