I plan on strictly breastfeeding my baby when he's born in a couple of months. Anyway, I know in some cases the milk doesn't come in right away. What do I do if this happens? I don't want to just pump and give hima bottle, I want him to take it from me. How can I ensure that I have a good milk supply from the time he is born. I also do plan on pumping afterwards so my husband and daughter can take part in the feeding but I want him to get used to me first. Afterwards when I start pumping how often should I pump? I plan on buying the Medela Pump in Style Original Pump. Is that a good one to buy? What are or have been your experiences. Thank you for your help. Second time mom but first time breastfeeding because my daughter was sick when she was born and I couldn't!! Thanks in advance.

So I need to register for my baby shower soon (I'm 28 weeks pregnant). What exactly do I register for/need. I know the obvious big ticket items, but what about toys for when the baby is older? Is it appropriate to register for things I won't actually need for 3-6 months? Or do I only register for what I'll need immediately? Also - can I register for books and whatnot for the baby? Thanks!

My entire pregnancy i planned on breast feeding to the point were i didn't buy any bottles at all. My baby girl was born on 4-5-07 and i have been breast feeding everyday since then. The problem is i didn't know it would be so difficult, not for her but for me! It litterly depressed me and i am exhausted. She had Jaundice when she was born so i'm determend to stick with it until she's better and her weight is up. I really do want to breast feed for the next few months but i don't think i can do it. I need people's advise who are going through the same thing.
Also i have been seeing a Lactation consultant three times already and have to go back tomorrow but it only seems to be adding to my stress. Can anyone help me?

I had an emergency c-section on Thursday the 12th, and had to be in recovery for almost a day, and didn't get to see my baby. He had to go to the NICU for 4 days. Meanwhile they gave him a lot of bottles. He gets latched on to my breast, he knows how to suckle his own hand but he can't seem to figure out how suckle on my breast!! He just tries it for a second and then screams. What do I do!! I have tried all kinds of positions. I have tried cutting out the bottle. I have tried different bottle nipples that are supposed to simulate the breast nipple. I have tried letting him pacify at the breast and try to figure it out himself. He does not get a pacifier. I have tried letting him figure it out when he is NOT starving or hungry. I have called the LaLeche league and other lactation consultants. I am about to give up - this is gut wrenching to hear him scream like this. There must be someone else out there who has dealt with this successfully?? If so please respond!!

my son has a diaper rash that just won't go away. He has had it for about 2 weeks now and I have tried everything, diaper rash cream, vaseline, corn starch, letting him run around naked for about an hour at a time. We change his diaper every 2 hours or sooner if need be. We have been using the same kind of diapers since he has been born so I know it isn't an allergic reaction. Anyne have any ideas that may help?

My 9 week old had her first round of jabs yesterday, and with it her first taste of Calpol (2mm) on the advice of the HV incase she got a bit feverish. Since last night, or over the last 24hrs, her milk intake has dropped from her usual 35oz ish per day to barely 20oz since same time last night. She wakes up screaming for milk, then drops off after about 2oz for another 2 hours and does the same thing. She has been fairly good up to now, drinking abour 4-5oz at a time, 7 times a days roughly.

Could this behaviour be anything to do with the jabs, or the Calpol, its totally out of character for her.

I'm about to have another baby. My first baby is going to be 2 in June and the reason I ask the question is because I just started school and I'm scared that it will be hard to get finished. I'm not talking anything crazy but I want to know how easy or hard will it be to finish. I'm going for broadcasting and and I know looks are everything. I want to make time for my family and career. I have been out of school for almost 3yrs and finally got the nerve to go back and now this. Has anyone been in my shoes and can relate to this?

I pumped milk yesterday at work and put it in a little cooler in my briefcase. Got out my briefcase this morning and saw that I forgot to put it in the fridge last night. The reusable ice in the cooler was probably melted by midnight of last night.

I remember reading somewhere that breast milk stays good for an abnormally long time at room temp, but can't remember exactly *how* long.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

First of all im one of those people that believes in no cereal until 4-6 months of age. My childs Dr. said that I need to start adding some in now because of his reflux. He tried to get me to do it last month but I refused. My son has been on prilosec for 2months and it works a little. He is now 13 weeks old. Im not sure how to mix it. The Dr. said to mix in enough to make it noticibly thicker. I put 2 tbsp in 4oz this morning and my son ate it up like there was no tommorow! He then kept staring at the empty bottle and cooed at it for like 15min! I don't think I made it thick enough but im scared to make it too thick. Can someone tell me how to start this right?

They all look the same. And why do people feel the need to bring their babies into work. I hate having to do all the fake cooing and saying "oh, isn't he/she cute", "She looks just like you " etc. Is it a hormonal thing?

Is this normal I thought the babies looked at their mother. My one month old nevre looks at me while breastfeeding just straight ahead and if you talk she does not look either. She can hear though because if you make a noise she wakes up, etc. Is this normal?
